I have been following your restore and finally looked at the Chris Craft video. That is just priceless. Keep on keeping on.

Re: Miss Peachtree

Thanks a bunch Streetgang. I sure appreciate it. It floors me to find something that amounts to a high horsepower engine, trans, rear end, tires, for two hundred bucks. Ya know what I'm sayin'. Up till Miss Peachtree my hobby was vehicles. Lovin' it...

I see someone was a toolmaker or machinist...I bet that aluminum chattered like the dickens on the table saw!

Naw Troop, the material cut very nice, just speeds and feeds. Adjusting the feed was easy, I would of preferred to slow the "tool" saw blade, speed down some, yet not possible, until I invent it, hey an idea. I have carbide cutters for the mill I mill alloy with all the time, they're the greatest. They leave a finish somewhat like the saw blade does.

I did spend a few years working in a machine shop during layoff's though.

Hi Street. Yea, see what ya mean, pic on right is trimming down the jack plate pieces. Left is the instrument panel. Just transfered mounting locations into gauge pods.

Pods on instrument panel face held on location exactly as they will end up being screwed into place.

.
IMAG0913.jpg

Mahogany holes shimmed with masking tape finding location between instrument panel face and gauge pods. Thus drilled fastening holes in pods with pre-existing hole locations

It's been a while. Is this droid phone the upload problem? The coolest picks won't upload....

Machining clearance for wires in the instrument panel and final milling on the tool box drawer....

Looking nice!

Is that a vertical mill or a beefy drill press?

Re: Miss Peachtree

Here's the jack plate finished. A 3/4" plank of mahogany bolted in between. I sawed the plate down as much as I could, realizing the 150 maximum horsepower rating for it was way too much for this 13.5 footer. A 33 pony Ski-Twin will be used this year. Eventually I want to move to a '71 40 pony selectric.IMAG1359.jpgYes Troop, it's a mill.

With all the different horsepower offerings there is, as outboards seem so similar looking with close to the same power outputs. I wonder if there is anything that can be done to say my 33 Ski-Twin to bump up the ponies to close to 40 horses? Such as modify the timing advance stop for more spark advance? In other words wondering if the factory incorporates limits to keep the horsepower as advertised.

Re: Miss Peachtree

Hi LS,
Instrument panel and jack plate, both look absolutely amazing...Beautiful work.
Sorry, I can't help with the boosting of power on the OB, if it was a regular 'ol car engine, however, well that's a different story...;)
