Good lord dude! You have a huge amount of work to do here and if this your first boat and you don't know much about boats then sorry to tell you but you are taking a too much!

You have years of work and a fair amount of money ahead of you to the get thing ready for the water so unless you are willing to put in the time and effort save yourself the frustration.

I don't mean to rain on your parade just wanted to give you fair warning. I have been restoring a 1974 20 foot Double Eagle Cuddy Cabin for the last five years and I know what it is about.

Best of luck. If your not willing to take on the project just buy a smailler boat that is ready to use now that won't cost too much and if you really like then consider get something that need work and fixing it up.

Well, first of all, info is virtually non existent. The first thing to check is the floor. On mine I had to replace the port side stringer(form the bulkhead back to the motor) I also had to replace a head on the motor, which is really no big deal. Overall it is a very stable boat. Mine has the 260hp 350cid and it pushes the boat along @ 40mph with a full tank of gas and a 19" pitch prop. I will post pics of my resto when I find them.

Good luck

I would read all of the recent posts on transom and stringer replacement. The first thing you are going to have to do is rip it all apart to find any rot or infestations, then put it all back together right. The motor and drive also have to be gone through to make sure there are no problems there. Just from the pictures, it looks like you are bringing that one back from grim death. Hope it was free, because at this point it is worth nothing, and will probably cost thousands of dollars to get back on the water.

Boats don't really come with a manual, just some generic stuff about safe boating mostly.

The engine bay will look like any other engine bay from a boat with a similar engine. There are only a couple of engine suppliers to the marine industry, which means most look about the same.

Ask your question in the I/O section, they should be able to post plenty of pics for you.

dragtuners,
If you have decided to rebuild then your in for a treat, If you like this type of work.
I would suggest that you use the search function and look for similar restorations. Read several other threads of folks doing full restores, that will be a good start.
If you have not started the tear down yet, Take some pic's and measurements of what you have now. I wouldn't think both sides of the compartment are destroyed yet.
That would give you the basic information needed.
As for the engine and sterndrive you can get shop manuals here on Iboats or several other places, including ebay.
Good luck on your project.

Good luck with the restoration. She actually looks like she will clean up well. I have a 1989 CLX 4500 sport and I love it. What size engine is that? I can try to answer any questions about the boat, using mine as a reference. Good luck!

Ayuh,.... You keep asking this question, but it's sorta Unanswerable.... I see the same question in mulitpule forums even,... That's an iboats No-No...

Just type in Mercruiser Engine into Google, images... You'll get 200 Pages of hits...
Nobody is going to have a picture of Exactly what Your motor bay is supposed to Look like,...
They're ALL Different...

Either come up with Specfic Questions, or spent some time Looking around...
If my photo hosting site wasn't down, I'd post a picture of Mine...
But,...
Of course mine is Different than Your's....
