Sad news. This thread died years ago but, I think it deserves a proper send off.
I did end up taking my boat to Phil Taylor of Jet Stream Concepts. It can be done! He repaired all of the issues the Tyee had....then life took over. Family, work, time, money. I'm getting older and so much time had passed. An opportunity cam up and I felt I spent enough years suffering and going without. I did a search on the ol' inner web and there it was, the boat of my dreams. A 18ft Tracker Tundra DC. Long story short, I bought it so, as a result money, time and storage did not permit me keeping the Tyee. It is truly a shame. I feel like I let an old friend down. I had every intention of restoring that boat. I'm hard headed like that. When I focus on something, it is going to get done. In time I collected a stock pile of components to install on the Tyee to make it like new and modern. Even after I bought the Tracker I still wanted to finish the Tyee but then I turned the key on my Tracker and it fired up....and I went fishing. After that, I drove the Tyee to the scrap yard. It was in too many pieces to sell. It would have been something.
On another note. Anyone with a similar year make and model boat should keep an eye open. When I get a chance, I'm going to post pics of all the parts I collected for the Lund. I believe it would be perfect fitment and bring an older boat up to modern standards. My pic files are too big and I just don't have time to figure it out. I will soon, stay tuned.
