My Boat Was Recovered Last Night.....Thieves Busted

Many of you may have read my previous thread where my boat was stolen:

Well at midnight last night Pinellas County PD busted the thieves and recovered my boat. I will reveal more details after the news releases, and add links to the stories as soon as I have them, so far it looks like Tampa BayNews9 and St Pete Channel 10 are going to run the story and use my video in their story so I do not want to steal their thunder or possibly give away something about the investigation that I shouldn't.

I also do not have all the details yet, what I do know is that the Pinellas County Sheriff's Dept has already provided a press release to the local news stations and that they will probably release the story within the next 48hrs.

It will be really cool if my video helped them catch the thieves, so far that remains to be seen.

Just so you know you can look up the charges of the people on the local clerks site and look up theyre charges and bond amounts on the local sheriffs site.

Manatee county is the pilot program for the rest of the country on viewing legal stuff online. anyone can look up a name or case and view the police report, offers, pleas, etc from theyre home.


All other counties at this time you have to go down to the clerks office to actually read the police report and stuff. Or if your in with a lawyer like I am I can go to his office and look stuff up for all the couties he has access to.

Oh yea. I hope they throw the book at these guys. They probably wont because all of Florida is consumed with prescription drug cases right now.

Now maybe if when they caught them they caught them with some pills or fake prescriptions then they would throw the book at them.

Glad to hear that Diesel. The law enforcement agencies in your area deserve a pat on the back. Too bad they didnt catch the guys before they got your boat but on the other hand your video might have been the break through that they needed to catch them. Now if the police would give you five minutes alone with these thieves. OLD SCHOOL VEGAS STYLE!!!!

I guess this is great news, especially that they were caught. I have a couple of questions though. The insurance company already paid you, right? What happens if you spent the money? Title is theirs right? Do you want her back? Can you tell them they can have her? I am just curious.

Now that is cool, I did not know the story was already on their website. As far as the boat's condition goes, I've been told all they did was scrape off the registration numbers, and prepare the boat to be shipped, no damage was done.

I definitely do not get the boat back, for the settlement I had to sign away all rights to the boat and sign over the title for the boat and trailer. They may make me an offer to buy it back at a discount, but the story is still unfolding so at the moment I do not know.

I can't believe it was actually a marina owner, no wonder why it was so professional.

Do you still get the boat and insurance money?

Most insurance companies will allow you to buy the boat (or car, truck, whatever) back for the wholesale price or bottom line dollar of what they would have gotton if the wholesaled it out. The want the $$$, not your boat.

So, your boat may have been insured for $20,000. Stolen, they give you fair market value (if that's the policy you had) of say, $15,500. They retrieve the boat and there's some damage, use, whatever, and the market value "as is" might be $12,200. That would be your starting point to bargain with them.

Congrats!

Based on who Mark Conner is, (we'll get to that in a second), I would imagine the boat hasn't been stripped, and is in good condition. As soon as I heard he was arrested for multiple counts of Grand Theft, I was wondering, but didn't think he'd steal from his own backyard. What a moron.

Mark A Conner, is/was the owner of Suncoast Marine here in St. Pete. He has previously been arrested for fraud in 2007, and now again for the same and more. Here's the info from the 2007 & today's arrest:

Interestingly enough, I heard about this through Craigslist of all places. Since it's public record, someone made multiple posts regarding what happened, along with links to consumer complaints.

To really get an idea of what kind of dirtbag this guy is, do a google search for 'suncoast-marine mark conner'. Seems his wife was just as bad....

I hope they throw the book at him!

That's AWESOME!!!! I really felt for ya! I only wish there was a way for ya to get back a monetary compensation for all the heartache, pain, & sufferin! Great Video of em! I really hope that's the clincher, in court. That'll make ya feel better, huh? Wether you want the boat or the money, I hope ya come out well! Can't trust many folks these days. I use cameras too, along with motion sensors, just to protect what little I've still got.
