LOL ......thanks man. I have been all over the net looking from Akron to Cleveland, Pitts and even down your way and they are either a 25 or bigger or a short shaft or a tiller that can't be converted. I am not in a hurry.

That right there will get ya a killer motor at a killer price. Even if it takes until winter to find the right motor.

Besides, it float & motors! And all w/out vroom vroom noises required from the helmsman:D

Going a tad slower w/ the 9.9 allows onlookers to more fully appreciate her in all her glory. Oh and see your handy work, too.

Screaming by with a 20 at WOT, it'd be just a blue streak on the water:facepalm:

As long as I am not going into the wind pulling two squirrels on skies.

Holey Moley JS,

Now I realize why I have been having so many withdrawal pains...not being on Iboats and seeing the successful resurrection and subsequent re-tuned engine splash, of this beautiful MFG after all of the blood, sweat, cash, and tears you have poured into it...

You, Sir, have done yourself proud!

What an amazing transformation!

Looks absolutely stunning on the water and it seems to go pretty good with that motor...although of course you know we are all power freaks and the sound of a 20 on there would be mind blowing...hey, don't knock it...a 20 on a small boat like that, going from a 9.8, is gonna be awesome...you'll have to make sure you have a chin strap on your hat...

Great to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Congratulations and may you and yours enjoy many happy boating excursions...

The vid was great. Glad to see the motor problem is resolved.
I thought you looked great going on the water. The motor did move you very well.
I think all in all your work turned out excellent.
Hope you get to use the boat alot this summer.

LoL ..... I need to look into that chin strap. Thanks GT. It was a good feeling coming home after splash day. Despite the problems with the motor everything else went great. Glad to see you back on iboats.

Thanks Decker ..... none of this would have been possible without all of you guys from iboats. I was, and still am, a newbie to all of this stuff.

The motor moved her ok but it would be nice to have something a little stronger. I am not looking to break any speed records but I would like to get across the lake in a reasonable amount of time.

That may be wishful/hopeful thinking:eek: But I hope it works out for everybody.

The Admiral just asked if she could put a couple shelby racing stripes on me:facepalm: Just until we float 1 boat. Any 1 boat:facepalm:

I gotta go before my man card gets pulled:redface:

Nice. I know we've been down this road, but this sure would be a nice addition:facepalm: No need for stripes or lightening bolts. Pesky USCG reg plate, dag nab it:redface:

It sure does look much smaller then my '57 35hp Johnson..... That 75 in the background is for sale too:)

Re: Need help with transom repair w/pics

Thanks jb ..... that sure would look nice all refinished and hanging on the back of my boat. I am going to make some calls to the state of Ohio and see if there is anything I can do to get the limit changed back to what it was from the factory.

Re: Need help with transom repair w/pics

Since we know the original data, if that info isn't actually on the reg/title, 1 of these might suffice. That site has many 'stock' capacity stickers, that just happens to be the SC data tab I already had open. Not that you couldn't make it read whatever you wanted, but I don't reckon any of the boaters on iBoats regularly would attempt to change their plate to be WAY over powered and unsafe.

There would be those who would make an unwise change simply because they could:facepalm: pretty much everywhere.

A vintage 30 would really only be a 25+/- at the prop. Have you run the USCG home boat builder data for your boats beam, length & transom height to see what it's suggested/recommended max hp rating would be? If I'm not mistaken, it was for the 'new' rating system at the prop.

Re: Need help with transom repair w/pics

I went to the USCG page and punched in the numbers and it came up with a 20 hp max. Not a good thing to have in my corner when trying to increase the hp. I am not trying to go crazy with hp on my little boat but I would like to have the option of going bigger. I would like to go to at least a 25hp which is still 10hp under what the info stated for my boat when it was made.

As for the capacity sticker .... when I started my restro I contacted ODNR and they told me that they would have to come out and inspect my boat and issue a "modern hull number". He is the one that told me that they have to honor any capacity tag that is on the boat and keep the info the same. So, I am sure that he recorded the info off of the tag and if I were to come up with a different tag all of a sudden well ..... it might create a problem.

Well, you are surely right, an unexpected change would be a red flag. Don't want to irritate the DNR guys. Hope you have some success w/ a call, but may need to head over for a face to face.

The DMV (handles boats not the DNR) here isn't much help via the phone but I've been to 3 different in 3 different parts of the state, & in person they've all been very helpful. I often take paperwork w/ me on the road & if I have some time between appointments or calls, & there's 1 close I stop & do reg & transfer paperwork.

That is a good point ..... I think that I will go there in person and see what happens.

Another thing is being a newbie to boating, I don't know much about getting the most out of your motor with different prop sizes and such. That is my next project ..... reading up on props and things.

Re: Need help with transom repair w/pics

There are plenty of good sites online for a quick overview of prop selection. And plenty of 'find the correct prop for my motor' guides. You can plug in the info @ motor, boat, and how you use the boat, & it will list suggested props for you application, by a few different manufacturers. 3 blade, 4 blade, aluminum, stainless....

If you are near a BIG boat/marine dealer you may find someone that will let you test drive a few props and only buy the one that works the best. A few iBoaters have done that.
