Re: Need help with transom repair w/pics

Jon has definitely gained the knowledge and experience necessary to be an excellent mentor for you on your upcoming project...

My only inputs at this time is to read and read some more through various threads and keep making progress, no matter how small or insignificant it seems to be at the time...it all adds up...

Materials estimating, at best are just that, an estimate...sometimes you'll end up with a good amount left over...[which means you need to start another restoration...]...and other times you will find that you have come up far short...

Don't let that be a stumbling block...every boat restoration is different and the methods used by each individual, will inevitably make for variable material usage...

The other thing I want to know is... did you start your own restoration thread, and if you did, where is it...

Make a link to it on your signature, so we can all follow along and help where we can...

Best regards,
GT1M

I don't know if you've even had time to stop by the DMV yet about your capacity plate. It's not vintage correct, but... This hits all the needs check boxes.... Electric start, remote steering above 20hp...:)

Yes but it looked like it was built to be either a short or a long, and then has a 5" extension between the exhaust housing & the lower.

Yes, you'd still need a short drive shaft, perhaps another part or 2

It looked like it had an attachment point for remote steering, but the Q&A's at the bottom of the ad also list it as tiller:facepalm:

I think I need to eat dinner or go to bed.................. Maybe both......

Duh....

Hey guys ..... sorry I haven't been keeping up with my own thread but I did find another motor. 25hp Evinrude, electric start with harness and controls. I bought it and took it right over to the "motor guy" to have it tuned up. As soon as I get it back I will post some pics.

As a PRo, you're now less then 50% here & more then 50% helping out:)

Outstanding, a 25hp will be a nice addition.....

Have a great week...

Congrats on scoring the re-power...:D

I think it'll be good for three skiing squirrels, two tubing frogs and a wakeboarding lizard...kind of like a Cypress Gardens Show...

I'll bet he could pull a whole pyramid of squirrels. :)

For my hand in this, I wholeheartedly, utterly & completely apologize:facepalm:

I used that squirrel photo for reference in another thread about using photobucket:)

Hi everybody ...... can you believe that I still haven't received my 25hp back from my motor guy yet. He put in a new impeller and cleaned it up but hasn't tank tested it yet. He works out of his garage at home and I guess life has gotten in the way .... for both of us actually. I have been popping on and off whenever I get a minute or two to try and keep up with all of the threads. You guys are all doing some fantastic work. Great video Woody congrats on the splash 2 it sure looked like you had a great time.

We have had a drought here and our lakes are way down. They have shut down most of the public boat ramps:

In this photo all of this should be water and not dirt. Grass is starting to grow:

I should have bought an ATV instead of a boat .... lol.

Wow Jon , sorry about the drought conditions ! It rained so hard here yesterday my recycle bin was floating away. Wish I could send some your way. Good luck on getting the motor back and finding a ramp to launch her.
Later SP..

+1 for all that ^^^

Hope he gets the motor finished & you get some much needed rain.

Besides, w/ an ATV you'd have never learned how much you love fiberglass work

Man, I thought Okie Land was DRY!!!! We got some much needed rain on Saturday but only about 1". We need 12" to end the Drought. Hope you get some of that Rain soon!!!!! The motor will be worth the wait. I'm seriously considering buying the 70 hp from Andgott for the BF. the 40 hp runs GREAT but 25 mph is just a wee bit weak when it comes to pulling a tube. We'll see how it goes. Keep us posted on the motor.

Hey Bg ...... I have been watching your thread and you are doing a great job. Feel free to send a pm anytime you have a question. This is the steering that I used and it works great. I kept looking around and found one on ebay that came with the steering wheel for about $110.00.

What's the status of this mythical Merc rumored to be headed for an MFG transom over your way? Been a lot of interesting boats in & around Youngstown lately. I'm just saying
