Now that's funny..... lol. I don't know where you find this stuff but that's great. Almost makes me want a sticker of that to put on the boat.

Thanks rickryder ..... It's such a relief to finally be at this point in the rebuild.

AWESOME Jon!... just AWESOME!! :cool::D:)

Not sure how your windshield is attached but you may need these as well??

Thanks fst ....and that is exactly how my windshield mounts and I did order a pack of those hold downs.

jb, bear and GT ....... Thanks guys. I think that I am going to have to put another coat on her. I used the roll n roll and there are spots that look like .... not really orange peel but... more like the paint is really thin like the roller was a little dry. I guess that I got a little too confident on the first two coats and didn't pay enough attention to the last coat. Didn't notice it until it dried and then it really showed.

Do you think that I have to wet sand it with paper or just wet sand it with the green scuff pad?

For the final coat I'd wet sand with 320 grit wet and dry. It'll do a lot better job on any an all nubs and orange peel an make her smooth as a babys behind. Put some dish soap in the water.

Do a final wipe down with Acetone before the final coat

I assume this was BEFORE thinning with Acetone??? And the tsp's were scraped level for accuracy, and You held you mouth just right, stuck out your tongue, squinted one eye, held your right pinky at a 45 degree angle while standing on your left foot only???? That's what I did:p

How did you know? Oh ....... I know ..... you watched the video of me mixing it ...lol. That was one quart of paint and I did level the tsp and I mixed it right in the paint can. I mixed up 2 quarts. No Acetone or hardener. After it was mixed to the color that I wanted then I poured out 2 cups of paint then mixed in the Acetone and hardener. I used about 6 cups of paint on the boat and have 2 cups left over for touch up.

What I meant was... the Tube Paint, once you measured it in the tsp and leveled it. did you thin it before mixing with the paint since it's kinda pasty when it comes out of the tube

No ..... I just added the paste to the paint and used a paddle on my drill to mix it up.

On the BF I found that thining it with about 1/8 cup of acetone made it easier to mix, but that's just me. Seems to have work just fine the way you did it too

Re: Need help with transom repair w/pics

I know it would have been easier if I would have thinned it like you did but I knew that I was going to store the leftovers for touch up and I didn't know how it would keep long term with added thinner. That may sound crazy to those of you that know a thing or two about paint but I don't have a clue about paint and thinners and hardeners ... ect. I just thought that it would keep better if it was the same as it came from the mfg. I would have been lost if it wasn't for page 10 of the Flamingo thread .... lol.
