9C or 56F, no wonder you stick to the imperial, 56 does sound better...
In winter... Not quite as cold as your spring:facepalm: I run my heater for 20-30min while doing my final battery charge for the night... And finishing off the red. Makes a very cozy cabin so much more inviting.
The only time I've hit ice on our waterways was New Years Eve a couple of years ago when an Esky fell off the back of the boat in front of me:D

I was up at the world renown PPYC to visit the Doral yesterday...there was still people driving thier trucks out on the ice, but it's .7 metres thick (theres some metric for you, lol)
But yeh, thanks for the boat pics ^^

We can't even get ice in the freezer that thick...
I'm looking forward to seeing some shots of the Canadian and American waterways. After a short time on here I can see why some of the features on the boat are the way they are. We only use marinas for storage and shorepower to charge batteries when we're not onboard. I have never gone into a marina for the night, always a nice little anchorage somewhere (other than on yacht races), thus the fitting of 2 shorepower inlets and town water connection seemed like overkill.

Re: Need more chatter in here people!

You'd likely love it boating up here BSA, We're on an extensive network of lakes known as the Trent-Severn waterway (see trentsevern.com), 40-odd locks, many lakes and several hundred kilometers in length. When travelling, you can stay at any of the locks or a multitude of marinas, you meet all kinds of amazing boaters and the sceneries second to none. On top of all that, I'm at a small yacht club with many great people. A great time is had by all. Why am I having this sudden urge for a cold beer on a boat?...

Yes JBF 1962 is right about the nice waterways we have up here in Canada but I can only talk of my little area Lake Erie! I have been to many areas in the western parts of Canada and the US and will always come right back here for some good old home cooked fresh Walleyes and bass of course. It's all I have to hang on to right now..............that is untill the weather gets good enough to get the boat out on the water again

Had a look on Google... It does look nice over there.
Is the water warm enough for swimming in summer? some of those lakes sound mighty deep... and ..... cold!

 Most of the lakes in my region of the system (known as the Kawartha Lakes) aren't that deep, 8 - 10 metres is considered a deep spot. They warm up quite nicely by mid summer

Re: Need more chatter in here people!

Did I see a couple of 12C days coming up...;)
Time to grease the axles, polish the gelcoat, finish the the varnish on the timber work and... Oh, back to 5C again Saturday:facepalm: Hope your weather forecasts are as bad as ours. I only look up the wind speed and direction these days, Sydney Harbour has enough twists and turns to enable a nice quiet anchorage in pretty much all conditions.

Re: Need more chatter in here people!

Went out to look at my boat today after getting it back from the canvas shop. Man it looks good as I can NOW stand straight up in it. It was a lil cramped for me b4 as it was only about 5'5" or so at the back area and I am a lil over 6'6". I want to mount down riggers at the back and felt if it was too low and it would cramp my style a lil. Hey while I'm on the subject of down riggers, anyone have any ideas as to how to mount them on my boat for easy instalation and removal?
Like Ken said spring is begining...... my thoughts are"HURRY UP AND GET MAN " My throttle hand is getting a lil itchy if you catch my wake

87 24' Doral Tara.
Oh by the way I found out that if you stand there long enough looking at something you will get someone to come along and either do it for you or show you how to do it!
