Re: New Job, 501 Constellation, Good and Bad.

From lack of maintenance and no dockside water filter when filling the water tank, I pulled the water heater. It was full of dirty water. Maybe I should say just dirt! This fitting came off the supply from the heater. From the looks of this fitting on the bottom of the tank, it was never drained.

The plumbing for the tank and AC units as shown before is old school crimp and getting replaced.....and hoses need to be secured and made more uniform. Looks like I have work to do before installing the new water heater.

AND....while I'm in the hole I might as well relocate the water pressure accumulator tank. I can't get the generator strainer out to clean it. The dang tank is in the way!

The bossman is away for a few weeks so play time with him is over and it's back into the hole.

LOL......There are VCR tapes onboard too, cheejudo.

Would be even cooler if they were Beta!!!

Have you looked into Snap-fit connectors for the new water lines?

Are the stereos cassette or 8-Track?;) Love that boat, sasto!!! Too bad it won't be there in September... I had been hoping to see her, and maybe help you out with some of the work. Still takin' her to North Carolina?

Beta would be cool, Fireman. I'm using a couple Snap-Fit connestors in hard to reach places, but going with Quest compression fittings due to the fact I have several on hand from a job in the past. Saving the bossman some money!

Cassette and CD in salon.....CD in flybridge, veritas honus. Bossman hasn't made up his mind yet about where she will be this summer. He would like her to be near his home......but he would like her to be with me too. She usually stays at Myrtle Beach, SC for the summer. I wouldn't mind spending some of my summer there, I spent a couple years there in the USAF.

Re: New Job, 501 Constellation, Good and Bad.

Sasto - Concerning the TV cabling. If you give me an idea of how many TV's you want to work with and what the limitations are I think I can offer some suggestions.

Sure, Bubba. I have the salon taken care of. Below the salon TV in the master stateroom. The master TV is on the opposite side of the boat. I need to run a cable from where the salon TV is to the master TV. I know my description isn't very good. I'll take some photos for you to look at. Right now the boat is bobbin in the slip. I'm afraid I'll get seasick!

Thanks.

I've spent a lot of time on the Isle of Palms. Familiar? It's a barrier island off Charleston, in case you're not. Absolutely beautiful.

It'll be great if The Constillation's still with you in September. I'll earn my keep.;)

Isle of Palms? Never been there. Thanks for the heads up, veritas honus.

If Amusement is here in Sept. you are not to do anything on her but enjoy your stay. :D The FB can hold several and I'm free to take her for a spin if I wish.

If you google it, you'll be able to come up with plenty of people renting their oceanfront houses at very reasonable rates in the off seasons. Last time I went, we got a beautiful one with a hot tub on an upper deck overlooking the dunes and beach for 175.00 per night. We stayed 4 nights and the owner only charged us for 2 when she found out that it was my break after spending 60 days in Louisiana for hurricaines Katrina/Rita/Wilma rescue/relief. The Island is georgious. The dunes grow bigger and bigger every year. You can dig fantastic clams just about anywhere on the beaches!!!

Work on a boat is enjoyment. Even more so when helping a Friend!!! If My family and I are your excuse for a break, though, of course I'll do nothing but support that!!!;)

Veritas honus, I live at the beach! My vacations are usually spent in the country or the mountains. :)

You have it correct. When you and your family are here it will be all fun. If you want to work on the boat I guess you will be doing it while we are fishing, snorkeling, or walking the beach.

Here is my thought about cable routing the easy way.......maybe not the best. I'm thinking on coming from the salon TV to this area thru the sole.
attachment.php

Then under the valance thru this area where the cable comes in thru the emergency hatch.
attachment.php

Continue the cable in the valance till I get to the TV. Nothing in stone yet, still working on the origional plumbing.

I guess it won't be difficult to access the sole... Is it clear the whole way to fish the cable through? If so, sounds a lot easier and more sensible than fishing it through the walls. Behind those vallances makes perfect sense.

All is clear, veritas honus. On hold for now, to many other things going on now.

Re: New Job, 501 Constellation, Good and Bad.

I had the mate rebed all the screws on the deck with 5200. All went well until she got to this one. I'm not sure about the method I'm going to use to repair it. I have no access to the underside. Any suggestions anybody?

Re: New Job, 501 Constellation, Good and Bad.

First your are going to need a hydraulic jack, 2' square of 3/4" or 1" plywood to spread the load of the jack, a 2X4 cut to length with a slight V notch in the top to help it stay on the tube frame, if no tube frame then another square of plywood for the top end of the 2X4. Jack up enough to get the load off and enough clearance to look underneath. Like jacking up a porch roof on a house to change out a support post. If no access to the inside I really don't see any way other than to make access, either cut out a place on the side or cut the top panel out. Depending on what you see under that support tube would make the decision. I say that thinking of wood being under there and with standing water the possibility of rot and in that case cut a portion of the top out and rebuild from there. No matter what I think there is going to have to be an access hole cut to repair that and then glass it back in. I know that is not what you want to do, I certainly would not want to, I can not see any other way.
