Change is always met with resistance. I am reserving judgement on the new format until my brain gets used to the new format. Like how I automatically look to the top right of a post to see where the poster is from.

Frankly I think that the 35 complainers are not representative of I-boats as a whole. Kinda like the calendar fiasco. Apparently catering to 35 guys isn't the best way to run a forum.

OK now I'm off to find that banned member list!!

I do however prefer the old smilies to the new ones.

I agree the new smiley's look horrible in the posts, too pale like everything else.

Also the font could use some serifs for easier reading.

Somehow, I don't think "Abandoned Member" and "Banned Member" have the same meaning...

No I don't think they are the same. I looked for chiefalen in the list just because he was one of the most notable members that I could remember getting banned and I don't see him there. I can find old posts of his however that show him as a banned member still. I guess I just missed my opportunity to get to see the banned members list!!

If you folks were even a slight bit observant, you'd notice
1. No advertisements
2. Bland colors
3. Features not working, or suddenly working when they didn't before.
4. You had to log in again. (remember me went away)
5. It's basically the new year's weekend.

It appears that the site crashed, and was brought up quickly in default mode so you had some place to register your whining complaints, while the site owners are trying to find out who did what to their site code. I would bet that they would like to return to making money as quickly as possible, and don't have time to try to explain it to you.

If you guys would pay attention, there was an announcement at the top of each forum yesterday stating the forums would be down till early morning for maintenance. There is a new one now, stating that it's not done yet and they are still working on it.
Things are getting fixed, it's just taking longer than expected.
So, just quit throwing tantrams and let them get finished.

Hey Folks, My vote is to be patient. I remember the change to V Bulletin, was it 2007?

I LOVE the iboats forums, and thank the bosses for maintaining it.

My guess is that they had no option but to "upgrade", because the old version of the software was no longer supported. I can certainly put up with a bit of disruption every 3 or so years.

Also, I have looked at the store section for the first time in ages, and find goods priced in GBP for shipping to UK. That is new, isn't it? How good is that!

Looking at the Groups, I like the individual groups for JB (Ancient..), Don (Oracle..) and Tash (Senior.. )

Thanks again to All for keeping it going.
