Re: New Look

My only complaint is that I have to use a wider window to keep from having a very narrow text area. I use a 24" wide screen momitor as a main monitor and usually set up left and right panes, so that I can "goof off" in the forums while working on other stuff. With the old version, I could split the screen right down the middle and end up with two "documents" that were about the same aspect ratio as an 8.5" by 11" physical document. With this new version of V-Bulletin, I'm at a 1/3 - 2/3s situation on the main monitor.

Its sort of bugging me now, but I'll probably just adapt. I do think the new look is "cleaner" than the old one, so that's an improvement.

PS: Just noticed something that is a problem. I selected previous posts under my profile listings and only got the last four. That is something that is problematic in my mind. The ability to search past posts is something that I rely on and I want to be able to see more than the last few posts that I made.

"It's the same as it was yesterday with different icons. I liked the look of the old better but the function will be the same when they get it all together. If somebody has the knowledge & wants to do this I won't complain about how a free, massively helpful site looks. Those IT people have to do something to earn their keep."

Roger that! I'm thankful to have this, I learn something every day.

Re: New Look

not to worry,.
changes in the db between the old and new necessitate rebuilding all the search indexes.
it's still running,. search should be back to normal once it's all done

Don't know if you're aware of it but the contrast changes in the sign in block depending if you're looking at the topic indexes or viewing a topic. Also, characters don't show up when signing in. That might be a contrast issue as well. Good luck and thanks for the work on keeping us updated.

Good to hear. I thought maybe we were starting from scatch since the only posts that were displayed were the ones after the reset.

Re: New Look

I think the new look is great, but I'm new to the forum. I have to keep telling myself in life, as things change, you have to take a step back and take a wait and see attitude and things usually work out fine. I'm sure many of us would not of ever seen us surfing the internet !!

Re: New Look

Is there any way to adjust the the display under the user profiles? It looks like there are no alternate themes available to select how the forum is displayed under the user CP.

New look

I just came back to the forum after being away for what I thought was only a few days to find a new look to the site. I like it. It's easier on the eyes and easier to negotiate. It's just going to take a little time to get used to it. So, thank you to whoever designed it. Think spring. Hy

Re: New look

Ahhhhh, V bulletin upgrade! Now where did they hide those themes? I HATE all this pastel colored stuff.

Re: New Look

I hope so. I saw this happen to another board and the search indexes did not cross over.

Iboats format change!

Iboats format change!

What's the saying "if it ain't broke why fix it" I for one don't like the new format that has been put into use here at "Iboats" Was there some reason for the change? The site
seems to me to be more "sterile" not the "olde home comfy style" that I'm familiar with!
That being said I will still continue with this site!
Wishing everyone a "Happy and Prosperous New Year"!

Not crazy about it either, but us "old farts" don't like change you know. I'll learn to live with it, still the same wealth of information here.

Has the Iboats team said when this is suppossed to be complete??

I hope its not already done, and this almost transparent, bland, hard to seperate posts without squinting, crap is not the end result.

The forum stuff is all good but why not go back to the old colors?

White, light gray, light blue is very bland.

Re: Iboats format change!

I merged a thread from Restoration over to this one. Might as well biotch all in one place. Speaking of biotches . . . a little patience would be great. Thanks.
