Ramp ettiquete?

So which ones of you were complaining about someone taking an extra 5 - 10 minutes on the ramp? Tried to float my boat at my marina today and ran into this. Usually there's just cars parked there and you hope they are still at the marina. I was told these guys left in the morning over six hours before I got there.

And they are still sitting there?
Why has not someone had them moved?
Marina own the ramp?

We're on an island and the marina owns the ramp. The ramp doesn't get used much 'cause most of the boats at that marina need to get pulled out by the lift. Ramp might get used 10 times during a whole week. Real pain for me since I'm still waiting for a slip to open up. Prolly wind up mooring at the yacht club farther south due to this, logistics and other stuff.

It would be a shame if the trailer rolled into the lake "wink, wink" ;);).

It/they would not be there when they got back.
Might be in the parking lot, but not blocking the ramp like that. Gezzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Wow... free trailers. ;)

You can turn around and sell em pretty quick too, cause it looks like at least 2 people will be needing trailers for their boats. :D

Well, where the hell is the vehicle that pulled that trailer? They guy left the trailer right there and took off to where in his car while who drove his boat?

I'm wondering if it would be proper ettiquite to nail a few nails up through the bunks in such a situation. You know, people almost never notice something like that until their boating season is brought to an early end. :D

it also looks like the car in the approach to the ramp. shame if it jumped the curb, and the trailers just rolled down the ramp. i would have probably moved them up the parking lot and hid them.

I think it would've been hilarious to put a lock on the trailer and record them from a distance when they come back.

That is one of the greatest suggestions I've ever heard. :D

I don't know about your location, but here in the Nations wind comes up awful strong. Those trailers would be swept into the drink in just a couple of minutes. A concerned citizen would place a note on them to tell the owners of such danger. If an astute concerned citizen was worried about the trailers being stolen, then a hitch lock would be appropriate on the coupler, just to keep theives away. The owners would have a bunch of time to realize how grateful they are that no one took their trailers by the time they found who had the key to the hitch lock.

We must help all of those who boat against those who would take advantage of others, don't you think?

Or if you had a few guys handy to stack the trailers on top of one another. Better yet take the trailer stack them one on the other then lock them together then to a power pole or light pole. Or if one was handy take a forklift, then you could raise the trailers as high as you can get them then shut the forklift down then take the keys out and disappear.

I don't know how true this is but this story I'm about to tell is what gave me the idea I just wrote above about stacking the trailers. Back years ago my uncles were going to a high school football game (nearly all of my uncles were pretty stout hard working farm boys). Well they couldn't find a parking spot, so they found where this Volkswagen was parked and they stopped and picked the car up with a guy on each corner of the car (maybe one on each side to boot) and they moved the car to the side and parked in it's spot.

We did that back in high school to a guy's MG Midget. Except we picked it up and placed it between two poles of the roof awning over the sidewalk. The front and rear bumpers were about 2" away from the respective poles. We heard he had to have a tow trunk drag the car sideways to get it out.

Where did the vehicles go??????

I think I would drag them out of the way and chain them together with flat tires.;)

That would also work :D.

I hear ya 95yj, that would of been a site to see the owners of both the VW and the Midgit come out and see their cars moved, especially the midget sitting between 2 poles.

Knowing me (or my brother or my uncles for that matter) on the boat ramp I would proceed to back down the ramp pushing their empty trailer(s) and all with the back of my boat, saying OOPS WAS THERE SOMETHING BACK THERE? Get out of the truck at the bottom of the ramp and look for the damage to the back of my boat (pretend like I didn't even know I hit something until then) after there trailer is off in the drink and after inspecting the "accident" I would proceed on my merry little way. Because to me it would be worth the "accident" even if caused the little damage to my boat, over getting caught by somebody seeing you do something intentional to the empty trailers. Just because that is how mad I would be . Probably end up with some big fat ticket by the law at that .

Re: Ramp ettiquete?

I would have moved them for the respective owners to a "special place" where I would consider them to be safe, at least a mile away.
