Re: Raystown

What a clammy, rotten and cold spring it's been.

I splashed Raystown the last Saturday in March, last year. Haven't even gotten the boat out of the garage, yet, this year. I did take the cover out to an upholsterer this morning to have some reinforcement added to the windshield corner areas.

I wanna go boatin' !!!!!!!!

Good luck Cobia. This should be an exciting adventure for you with a fresh rebuild. Hopefully one of the stripers will give your new rod some experience!

Re: Raystown

Boat ran great....The new rod and I got skunked!! Talking to a bunch of locals, the fishing is very slow at best. With all the rain as of recent, the rivers and creeks being very muddy and running high.I'm thinking about paying a guide to show me how and where to catch these huge stripers I hear of.Any suggestions?

Re: Raystown

Few good guys I can put you in touch with, but right now, everything seems slow for the reasons you mentioned, the weather has not been cooperating and lots of food floating in the water. Haven't heard of anyone hanging many stripers yet. The bass were hitting around James Creek, from what I was told. I have just been too darn busy to hit it yet. Was hoping for this Friday, but looks like the only decent day this week will be Thursday, and I am busy that day!

Re: Raystown

There are 2 types of fisherman that catch fish on Raystown ... the ones that fish almost daily and know the current patterns and the ones that hardly ever fish, have no clue what they are doing, and luck into them. The angler with a life that does not allow daily fishing has a very difficult time, because the pattern changes so irregularly. I used to be one that fished daily, and did a little guiding, but life, a family, and other duties and responsibilities keep me from being out on the lake very much, and when I do get a chance, my youngest wants to go, and she wants to catch fish, not anything in particular, just fish ... so we end up catching crappie, perch, bluegill, sunfish, etc. I don't get to go for muskie, stripers, or bas like I did before.

I could give you some generalities that worked before, but that doesn't mean they will work today. I do try to keep my ears open, just in case I get a chance to do some serious fishing ... if I hear what is working, I will pass it along.

BTW.......... I heard that Clem's did not renew their lease.

BUMMER. :(

Memories has taken over for Clem's. I have never eaten at Memories, but most of my friends eat there and say it is really good and should be an improvement over Clem's!

Best luck I have had with 'eyes is below the dam, at the Point Access area ... good 'eye fishery there. Next best for me has been around the main channel just outside the Trough Creek cove (mile 13 - 14). Nice rocky gentle ledge with some stumps and a drop off. 'eyes seem to like it there. Every other place has been hit and miss for me ...

I was pretty darned pleased with Clem's. So if Memories is better, we'll all be doing fine.

Thanks for the tips !!

It's a big help on a lake that size to have an idea where to start looking.

Came here today to post the same thing! Great minds think alike! Unfortunately I will be busy working that morning, so IF I get out to the Lake it won't be till after 2 or 3 pm. Bummer. The clean-up days are generally a lot of fun ... wish I could be there!
