That's why I never go to the lake on a weekend. Always weekdays. Being self-employed, I'm not a cubical-corporate slave and can adjust my work schedule to peaceful calm days on the water.

I go on both. Being an investor, I too can adjust my schedule ;)
Good thing about the Chesapeake is it's so huge you can always find a quiet area.

Man, I suck more every day . . . I think I'm gonna buy a sailboat with a solar battery charger, and some headphones for a battery powered iPod. I'm gonna tow it with a Prius, but I will only use electric mode. I promise. I'm going to lower my sail whenever I can so that I don't obstruct any views and if I go any faster than wakeless, well I just won't do that. Of course I won't get a kicker, and if there is no wind I'll use oars. Will this pizz anyone off?

I'm a little bit miffed about your 'better than you' attitude! :D

Re: Really loud Boat Motors

Well QC I am sucking more and more as I read these.
I guess I will be an easy to find target for sure mind you this is a new to me boat so hopefully she won't be too bad, I have been thinking about inline mufflers for it just in case.
I noticed the OP said inboards which really have no threw prop options.
My Dads old chris' always had low through hulls, was the way before I/O's. The inline cans in the exits which had a good run as they were mid mounted engines were pretty good at quieting her down but before the pump could pick up water it was a little louder, that is how we knew she had picked up water. I still remember the sound of those old boats growing up they were great, quieter than the offshores today but not exactly an I/O.

Proud owner of 502 cubic inches of manly man engine and through-hull exhaust checking in. Yeah. FIVE HUNDRED AND TWO CUBIC INCHES -- not a weanie 496 cubic inch engine. I wanted those extra six inchs. Arrr arrr arrr!

Except mine run through water-lift mufflers. :) Nice tone. Nothing obnoxious.

I am happy to be part of the good boating community.

I don't know about you all but I think I am going to need to spend a couple of grand on this through hull exhaust deal. I am sick and tired of having to get up and look over the stern and swim platform for bubbles or get a crick in my neck from looking down over the steering wheel at my tach, and or the big tadoo would be to "clean and jerk" a zillion pounds lifting my engine cover to see if my engine is even running its so darn quiet. :D:D

Jokes just jokes :D

Nice looking install and very clean. I was reading up on those but from the size I don't think I can fit them in. Pretty tight in the engine compartment without some creative electrolux piping. Some of the iline stuff looks promising pretty easy to install for some peace and quiet.

Sorry for the highjack :D

Re: Really loud Boat Motors

I usually make boat noises while I drive, so I don't really think it matters what my exhaust sounds like. ;)

I love the sound of a big block with through hull exhaust. I wish I had through hull. :(

Even better is when you have a pair.:D

You know your boats a tad loud when you start it and set all the car alarms off in the parking lot..

Yeah, I like the sound of engines, too. I like the sound of a top fuel dragster -- at the strip. I love the sound of a Formula 1 car running at full tilt -- at the racetrack.

A straight-through exhaust in my residential neighborhood or at the lake where I'm trying to have a nice day? Not so much.
That says it all.

In my neck of the woods, (billy bob land) I can go to my local Meineke
muffler shop and get a almost brand new single exhaust system for a
truck really cheap. Everyone takes the factory exhaust off for loud duals.

Honestly only because there is only a FEW guys with go fast boats - it doesn't really bother me.

However, if it became a regular thing it would **** me off.

I want to put through hull on my 4.3L six banger. This way, people will think I have a bigger one. You know it's like the ladies do with tissue in the bra. :D:D
