I like it because the resin dose not set so fast and it will have more time to get into the wood.

Now this is snow but not in TN, most of our snows in TN, only stay on the ground less then a day but now then we one that will last 2-4 days. I don't remember a snow that was in Nov-Dec that even covered the ground for a day. There always in Jan-Feb.

Hi Captain,

I too am captivated by what you are doing.

I was a little disconcerted in your mock-up that is on the boat, relative to my expectations from your sketch. I interpreted your sketch to have kind of a loop overhead from the arch thingy. I expected something like below, but this doesn't subtract from the inspiration that you instill in us all.

he aint done yet......the sides are just the first ....you need the foundation before you build the top or rest of the arch.

and i think the arch is going to be made from metal and reevits

I was trying to mix the old with the new. I wanted to add modern flair without taking away the heritage of the older yachts. The newer boats/yachts are great but you have to mix the two together without it being obvious. This is not easy to do I have seen where people have tried to modernize their older boats and it wound up on the fulgy boat page. I have learned that if you try to do to much then it will not blend well.

capt, did you ever see absolu 80? it was on the wooden boat forum a year ago......but the boat almost sank because they added too much top...( i mean lots of top....a full other deck and then some) they had to add huge sponsons to the side of the boat to keep her afloat.......by the time they were done with the "all ya gotta do is" stuff.......it was the poster girl for fugly

From what I have seen that girl will never be sitting on the wall at the dance again when your done. Regardless of how I would have done the arch and how it sits she looks tons better with it on there. The work you have done seems spot on for her age and bringing her up to new trends. Just don't do like some of the hill billies around here and put late model graphics on a 40 year old camper. Older equipment can look great without looking gaudy. Great work and I hinge on new updates. One day when down visiting the grand kids I might just drop in.

Re: Restoring the LOST PERL 103'

cap i have been trying to dig up the thread......we had references to it here at iboats the thread was on the wooden boat forum. it was called naval archetects are a waist of money.

the op of the thread deleted it due to the bad comments the thread was receiving about the boat...as this was a conflict of interest. the poster knew and liked the owners.

since then.....and the second launch of the boat.....everything about the boat has disappeared. cant even find it here....lol
