Re: Sellers beware!

That's pretty lousy. I hope that it works out in your favor. I would also like to be PMed the persons name so I can avoid them as well. Maybe they can't be banned, but to hell with ever helping them out on the forums...

Re: Sellers beware!

how many times have you seen a delete post, reason buying, selling or the offer to buy or sale, is not allowed on the forum. we cannot police this on the forum. this is one reason the parts for sale or buy is taking so long to get up.

unfortunately, you are on your own. buyer/seller beware.

Re: Sellers beware!

Gary,
I just read your thread and that does stink! Especially, as you said, the way he went about it.... I've known a couple of people that have no conscience and this character sounds like one of 'em. I'd like to know who that "member" is, too.
Luckily, I've had nothing but good experiences here on iboats, with the exception of a couple of goofy political thread responses that I pretty much brought upon myself.
I'm like you, I wouldn't have thought someone would try the ol' dispute the bill routine! It seems some folks know all the angles, if you know what I mean. And like you, the 68 bucks wouldn't bother me, but the deed itself would. I hope you get that character taken care of.
Good luck,
JBJ

Wire fraud for $68 American? 5 to 7 on a Federal offence just to get a boat running? That boy and I do mean with a little "b" is not very smart. Taking it up with your local DA will not prove useful but the FBI will if your lawyer pesters those higher up that are politically connected.

Unfortunately, I also learned by experience. Cashiers checks are the way to go.

Good luck. By the way, calling him a bass turd is slandering bass turds. They at least are usefull in supplying nutrients to algea and plankton. He may redeem himself if he would do likewise in the near future.

You make a good point, it would be basically unenforcable... but never the less, adding any illegal activity to the bannable rules list, would still be a good idea. You never know when it's going to come in handy.

Speaking of rules, would a mass PM with his name and the details be against the rules? :D

Just a tidbit of info on cashiers checks - if you accept one for payment don't lose it! If you ask the purchaser to put a stop on the check and reissue another, you probably won't get paid for 90 days. This is because banks typically won't reimburse the purchaser for the face value of the check for that period of time.

I would consider myself lucky to get paid at all in that circumstance.

Re: Sellers beware!

Sorry to hear this Gary, I'd like a PM with the name also, just out of pure nosiness.

I just sold my old truck to a young man. We met at the bank and transferred funds. Slick.

Man that sucks, I, as the other agree, that does SUCK... Some of you all suggest using cashiers checks.. I HATE THOSE TOO.. I got one cashiers check, deposited it into the bank 7 days later the funds were GONE.. It was a FAKE cashiers check.. Just to let you all know beware of those as well.. So far *knock on wood* I havent had a "major" problem with paypal.. I mostly just use it to pay for stuff. I do use my cc through paypal incase I dont recieve my items.. Im like Gary though I haven't ever taken a dime that wasn't mine.. I work TOO hard for my money.. That guy will lose that $68 10 fold in the end.. If he doesn't lose it in this life.. THE LORD KNOWS EVERYTHING, and that guy will have to pay for his sin against you.

God bless, and I hope everything works out for you..

Re: Sellers beware!

Its bad when people who like to con others get away with it. I just bought a used engine and the guy had it planed out almost perfect, He had over 600 bucks worth of recent receipts for repairs made etc and a good story as to why he was having to sell it etc. He also had it where I couldnt easily check it out(laying on the floor) so I took a chance, The engine is junk ,has a bad piston and block. and most of the parts he said were installed were not He said it ran but with one spark plug just hangin striped out in the cylinder it couldnt have. beware
