Re: Spring break!!!

Good yikes or bad yikes, Jas?

Ah, yah. Spose it depends on your perspective Zop.

Well, I ran PCB Spring Break in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. During that 4 week time frame I probably drank more than most normal human beings do in a lifetime. And the lady spring breakers I "studied" with, oh boy.

Interesting to note...

In 1998 I became a Saved man.

In 2000 I joined a group of about 40 students from our school (few hundred on the project) called "Beach Reach" and headed back to PCB. (Interesting turn of events, very interesting.) Our goal was two fold sorta. At night we would give free van rides to students, wherever they wanted to go (and help em along the way, feed em if they were hungry, runs to the hospital, helped a lot of girls who were in terrible shape and taken advantage of, anything, everything really). In the morning we set up giant tents and served up pancakes to thousands hungry (hungover) students. If they ever wanted to talk about God stuff along the way, cool. Some of the best conversations of my life:)

In 2001 I lead Beach Reach, about 100 students from our school that year (bout 500 on the project).

So ya, all about perspective buddy;)

Panama City Beach Fla. is tops! PARTY! PARTY! PARTY!!! WOMEN! WOMEN! WOMEN!!!

Miami/ Ft. Lauderdale is like a different country, and it's a real good place to get robbed, shot, or throat cut... and the authorities don't like partying college students.

You forgot this one.."having your stuff stolen from your room in spite of you having the "only" key...

How true, I learned the hard way.

What I do no when out of the country, usually any island south of me, is never leave anything of value in the room. Heck, take nothing of value with me. I will put a small amount of Pesos under the mattress for what I call "rat bait". If it's gone, I report it and move on.

Rat bait...hit that nail right on the head, didn't ya?

My vote is for Cancun. I was supossed to go there in college and my friend that got the tickets gave mine to a guy that he was trying to befriend. Still bitter about that.

zopperman....... If you are under 21 or around that age, if you fly check and see what the age is to rent a car. You may not be able to rent a car.

If you go to ft. lauderdale check out jet blue for a flight directly into laurderdale better then miami.

also if driving using mapquest it may take you on several differant roads to get to coast. When you get off of rt.95 go east, all major roads go towards the water.

Re: Spring break!!!

Even though drinking can cause big problems any place I would have some extra cash to pay any bail if the cops are mean. My cousin went to cancoon on her honeymoon and stayed at a suppose to be very nice tourist hotel. They stashed over 3k in cash in their room . I am sure they thought it was well hidden . They returned and "someone" with a key had entered and evidently searched until they found the money. No break in and of course no one saw a thing......someone had decided to show some disrespect to the "american gringos"

Re: Spring break!!!

some of the best in the world my friend....montreal is a hot area......however the language barrier will be a big one.....most of montreal is french.

!

One of my ex's was from Montreal and I have spent a lot of time there. If you are spending your time in the city you will get along OK. Although French is the official language you will find a good portion of the population in the city is bilingual. She was from out in the eastern area about 40K from the city and there it sometimes becomes more difficult. It is a great place to visit, pretty women, good beer, and almost like visiting Europe without the expensive plane fare. You will find your high school French a help reading street signs and menus but not much help communicating with the natives after a few drinks with the "Fractured French" they speak up there. Sort of like being brought up in Boston and trying to carry on a conversation with a bunch of drunk West Virginians.

That's just awesome :D

I sure would love some pancakes after a long night...
Sounds like PCB is pretty promising. ANy body else have stories about it?

I don't think I'd be able to rent a car, which would suck, but I guess I could make do.

You won't need or want a car if coming to PCB. You would be stuck in traffic for HOURS. Stay on the east end of the beach, everything is in walking distance, club Lavela is the biggest hot spot. no worries about a DUI when walking... Take a cab from the airport to your hotel and back.

Yah, you won't need a car. Plus, Beach Reach crew can give ya a free ride if you need to go long distances. Just look for the big white 15 passenger vans with phone numbers painted on the windows - they'll also be named. The van I piloted for two years was called the "Wild Donkey". We had a riot! Spring Breakers would call and wait for hours just to catch a ride in the Wild Donkey;) Many wouldn't want to get out at their destination and would end up just riding around with us all night, hauling students to/fro, helping folks, and just having fun:)
