There will be 4 more, me, wife and 2 grandsons. Be close to dark probably before we arrive, looking forward to it. Sounds like I need to bring some chairs so we can sit on the dock. I feel sure some will be on the dock at times with kids fishing.

"Sittin' on the dock of the bay...", Fireman's "inflatable island", the boats, where ever... Gonna be fantastic just hangin' togetha' in person.

I'm going to be picking up some folding travel chairs, too.

Can't wait!!!

Nlain...didn't mean to leave you and your grandkids out. I know the 4 of you will be there, I was just referring to the number of people that will be on my tub!! VH, Sasto, and the others mentioned have plans to cruise up to Jax Friday morning and hang with us on the way back to St. Augustine. Should be interesting, to say the least.



If you're boat isn't running correctly or ready for a trip, it's best you not bring it. Aside from having difficulties on the ride up, it's a safety issue for you and everyone else on the waterway. Better to get it fixed while you're having fun.

Well, since we're not leavin' anyone out...

I guess I better bring a grill too.

Don't recall whether or not you mentioned what type of vehicle you're driving... If cargo space is an issue, just remember, Fireman and I both have grills. Don't klnow how big Fireman's is, but mine is 17" diameter... Not huge, but a fairly decent size. If you have the space, great. If not, no worries, my Friend.

Mail Lady came while I was responding to mnypitboat. My new Neutra-Salt system is here. Just finished checking it out and "inventorying" all parts. It's just as described by the seller. Brand new, couple of scuffs on the box. Arrived just two days after I bought it.

My next night off is Memorial Day, just a couple days from now. I don't go to any "job" on Memorial Day. That's my big day of reflection. My day to honor every American Soldier who's made the ultimate sacrifice. It's my day of peace. The one day of the year I actually set aside for no outside influences. I'd love to be on the water on this solemn day, but I'll be squaring away my boat for the water, which will be as gratifying.

I'll have mine on the boat. It's not that big (...that's what she said ), but it will hold 6-8 burgers, or 6 chicken breasts, or 12 hot dogs. As long as we keep them going, it shouldn't be a problem.

I never served, although I was all signed up to go and fly helicopters for the USN when I was talked into going to fire school. However, I have nothing but the utmost admiration for anyone who has signed up to serve.

Spending a day working on your boat is a great way to relax and reflect on the meaning of the day. I know you served and if I was was wearing a hat, it would be off to you and the 200,000 others. Besides, even working on a boat isn't work...

Cant wait to see and meet everyone. We took the boat out today, and it is really loading up at idle. If I get it up a few hundred RPMs it is fine, but then I am drawing a bit of a wake. Shifter is only giving me fits when not in gear, so far. It has done it since we put the new engine in last year, so I think it is just an adjustment. But you are right, no sense taking the chance on it getting stuck in gear, or stalling on the water. Its a long tow home. Had we not decided to drive, I would have probably addressed these issues before attempting the trip, but this works out better, so there is no hurry.

So we will be bringing a fishing pole, because someone forgot them in the under deck storage last year and the rest are junk now, some chairs, cloths, sunscreen, sunglasses, flip flops, and towels. Anything else we should bring?

Speaking of military service, If we can convince my buddy to come with us with his family, he is in the Navy and a great guy. Maybe we can take his boat, and the guys can come on his boat and the ladies can drive up with the kids. I tried to go in the Navy myself, but after passing all the tests and physical, we found out I had a thyroid disease and had to take a maintainance drug once a day. So they wouldnt let me in.

pitboat...just bring whatever you can't live without. Specific food, beverages, stuff for the kids, etc. We'll have coolers, fridge, TV, Playstation 3 for the kids (and maybe a few adults!), hot & cold showers, 2 TV's, A/C. They sell ice at the marina, but I have an icemaker on the boat. For some reason, I have a feeling that sucker isn't going to be able to keep up. There is a restaurant across the street with 4 star dining at good prices, along with a billion other places to eat within crawling distance. I'm sure if there's anything you forgot, someone will either have it or we'll find a way to get it.

I am trying to get my buddy and his family to go. We can take his boat, split gas and dock fees, and the guys can boat up and the women and kids can drive up. I am loving that scenerio. Now to just get him on board.

Just wanted to give you a heads up on a couple of items prior to going from St. Augustine to Jax.

1) Check out the map I attached. *Let me know if you don't get it*. When leaving and approaching the Municipal Marina, you have to follow the channel markers very closely. It will seem like you are heading out the inlet prior to changing course. Heading North from the marina, go under the Bridge of Lions, start heading North East as if you're heading thru the inlet, then your course correction to North will come at the last marker. Pay special attention to the markers and give them a bit of room. There is NO WATER outside the markers at low tide.

2) North of Old Town and south of Jax are a couple of little towns named Palm Valley and Pointe Vedre. The river is no wake thru there and the markers are positioned pretty far toward the eastern shore. Favor these markers depending on the tide. There is NO WATER on the western edge at low tide. You shouldn't have much problem here as you can trim up. I can't. But the scenery is great. Beautiful homes and friendly people. Start practicing your parade wave!

Can't wait to meet up. I'm starting to get excited about this trip!
