Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

There is an expectation here that they should handle this within a reasonable time frame. It seems from the start that they have waited until being pushed to make any decisions. You notified them and received the run around. They asked to see the boat, you obliged.......and got the run around. You finally contacted your insurance company after they sat on it for a while, the insurance company obviously let them know they thought it was a manufacturers defect so they reacted with lets ship it back to the mfg. Now again they are stalling and wasting your time. I know you do not want to spend any more money than you already have.... your actions say lets get this done if I can without being out any more than you already are.

Here is where the big decision has to be made.

You can follow through with letting them jerk you around or you can find an attorney who may even hear what you have got for free before he/she takes the case. If you have a solid case in his/her opinion then find out what legal recourse you have and what the possible outcome may be (a new boat or a repair only). It might be a wise investment to spend a $1000 or more on a lawyer to get a new boat from them. Just my 2 cents.

They have a nice 2006 repo for sale in the parking lot. I'm tempted to offer an even exchange for it because it looks good and would at least get me back on the water.

Even if that would satisfy you, watch what comments you make in a public forum. I'm sure someone from BPS or Tracker has stumbled onto this thread...

It's a pain in the butt, but try not to settle. Maybe update BoatUS about the situation, and see if their advocate can give things a push.

This is why it makes sense to own TWO boats, so you have a spare :) :) :)

For what you are going through, I would settle for nothing less than a brand new boat. This should have been resolved weeks ago.

Careful with that one Baineyg - you might end up trading devils you know for devils you don't know. Hang in there mate.

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

I went to BASS PRO today. Boat is still sitting there. Two full weeks after signing the pickup release.
I checked 204 Tahoe out that appears to be a repo. Glad I looked before offering to do an even trade. Beautiful boat but dirty, hole through the fiberglass exactly where my boat had a hole last year. I guess 2006 models where put together with the bare minimum.
I actually have Raymond Rose from Boat U.S. trying to help get an answer out of Tracker Marine. I called their customer complaint division today just to be told they have dispatched a truck to pick it up. Must be coming via horse (nah, a horse could make the trip in two weeks).

... you might try telling your story to a local TV news station. Locally we have a couple stations that get on your side to set things right and make business's very nervous when they start asking the hard questions with a camera rolling.

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

6 full weeks at BPS now. Boat was supposed to be picked up two weeks ago and still sits at the store. Insurance says it 's a manufacturer defect and closed my claim.
I realize things take time but six weeks and not even a fix/repalce answer? I'm getting real leary of any dealings with BPS. They have a nice 2006 repo for sale in the parking lot. I'm tempted to offer an even exchange for it because it looks good and would at least get me back on the water.

I would not trade my 1992 Wellcraft for one of those pieces of junk. Especially after how the manufacturer has d!kked you around. I guarantee that the stringers on my boat won't go through the hull. That boat has far better workmanship than any Tahoe.... because I rebuilt it from stringers on up. Old yes, but solid and reliable.

I wish you all the luck. I think at this point, you need to find a way to put some heat under their butt to get something happening.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

You know when I re-did the deck and had the stringers done on my old FW I wondered if I was really doing the right thing, but after being able to see the project through, and get it done the way I wanted and made it stronger than it was when new, in the end it was worth it. The newer boats with composite construction can be very good, and low maintenance esp compared to the old wood and glass boats, but if they are not done right, with good workmanship, there is a lot that can go wrong. Of course we really don't know what was the real cause of the damage here, just yet. The problem with most small boats is that you really can't see much of what is important once it's built. So when you rebuild one, you really know just how well it was done. Not to say that I'd be doing that again any time soon!

Well Baineyg we are still waiting and watching and wishing for the best for you to get this resolved. I've followed this problem you have since your first post and cannot believe Tahoe is still jerking you around. Maybe it's time to talk to talk to Carolyn at Boat US again and see if she can get somebody moving at Tahoe to resolve this issue. My 4w is a 1986 with 650 some hours on the engine and I wouldn't trade it even up for brand new Tahoe.

Yes, it certainly does. Unfortunatly, I think you are right about the wait, too. If he gets a new boat or hull, probably mid-summer or latter based on current pace.

What worrys me is, once they get the boat and their experts examine it, and feel that the original shipper or BPS is responsible, it might go on even longer. While they may just bite the bullet and fight with them behind the scenes, there hasn't been much goodwill displayed so far. They may want reimbursment of the shipping too. X number of posts ago, a member sent a link to this thread, so I expect Tahoe is reading this daily.

If the boat is still on the lot hire a surveyer ASAP for a unbiased analysis.

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

Well I can assure you, I will never buy a Tahoe after reading this thread. And if tracker is reading this i wont buy anything they make after this horrible customer service. Yes I understand that shipping takes time, but good customer service consists of communication with the customer. How hard is it to pick up a phone and call him and say "we have a delievery out there in two weeks so we will pick it up than." Im sure it would help. Well like I said im punting on tracker products as a whole and will mention this to anyone i know that is looking at them. Actually I know a buddy who is looking at a boat right now and was thinking about a tracker model. Ill forward this thread to him as we speak. Tracker probably just lost one sale.

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

they haven't given you any sort of expectation?...and they have the boat?

you really need someone involved in this for you. at least if you had payments they wouldn't have your fully paid boat as hostage. they probably have a policy written down somewhere. large companies don't like to make stuff up as they go.

not that things really made much sense 12 or 13 pages ago, but who gives up their paid-for boat without getting their own legal representation? seriously, they have your boat and you have no idea what's going on and won't talk to an attorney?

just curious, not trying to be an *****, what's the breaking point going to be?...mem. day? labor day? i don't expect a decision the same day but to leave a customer boatless and without a clue would be unacceptable to me and i find it hard to believe anyone else would take it.
