Re: The official 2011 Starcraft outings on the water picture thread
Lake Winnibigoshish 2011 trip:
Overall fishing was slow but we had our fun! Took us 2.5 hours to get to the boat launch on the first full day there due to the 70 mph wind storm the night before (which we slept through in a TENT!). I will be posting the full narative story on the storms aftermath, trying to get the boat in the water, and the local guy we nicknamed "SAW" we met on our adventure in my boat thread and will link it here when completed.
We hauled in 16 jumbo perch the first day, 1 walleye and 5 pancake sized crappie's the second day. 2 reasonable sized Northern on the last day.
PICTURES!
The "precursor" to the storm coming that night. This was night number one, where we did get the boat on the water for a couple hours upon arrival (5 hours to get there) but only caught rock bass. We thought this was a cool sight, little did we know it was the storm's warning, if you will!
This is the second fallen tree we came upon the morning after the 70 mph rain and wind storm. We were already prevented from launching the boat at one landing because of another tree that was way too big to move (I'm guessing around 6 foot in diameter) and we were en route to another launch. We tore this thing limb by limb until we could push it out of the way with 3 guys pulling and one working a canti-lever with another branch. Took us a good 45 minutes to do. You'll have to read the rest of the story to get to the meat of it when I link it here (coming tonight) and write the play by play story (it's definitely worth the read) in my boat post.
My good friend hauled this guy in on his line! He was freeloading trying to get to the leech that was on his hook! We decided to put him to work to repay his freeloader attempt (see next photo)
He took on the very important role of guarding the beer and he was feerless!
You just cant BEAT this! My favorite time out on the lake, when the water is calm, the sun is setting and the beers are tasty! If only every evening was like this!
Picture of my good friend and I soaking it up! We had 4 plate sized crappie's in the boat at this time!
All in all an AWESOME trip! First "big" one on the boat. Boat ran flawless and we had a blast!
