Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Good to see you got home for a day or two. Glad to see there wasn't any water damage too.

You're still way ahead of me. (considering I haven't got started yet)

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello all,
Well, I got back home last night and did get to work on the boat today. :D
The good news is everything below the deck is finished. I can actually start putting the new deck back in. :D
The bad news is I have to go back to work tomorrow. :(
Murphy stayed away and I actually got most of the plan completed. However, I did run out of resin and glass today. :(
I will just go back to work by way of Nashville and pick up another 5 Gallons of resin and some more cloth.
Sorry no pic's but I will take some tomorrow before I leave for work.
I did learn something else this weekend, If you don't tell the wife you took extra time off, she doesn't have time to plan what you are going to do with it.
That really worked out great.:D
I hope everyone has a great week.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello all,
Well after my canopy failed and the weather has turned to warmer side I reconfigured my canopy for shedding the rain and shade. So maybe it will stay up this time.

Then I got back on the glassing, I got everything that will be below deck completed so the next time I'm home I'll be able to start on the deck. :D
Here is the completed area.

I'm still thinking about glass in motor mounts for a 4.3L, V6 now, Does anyone know the centerline distance for the mounts?
One more Item.
This is the first thing I have purchased for the boat that wasn't to do with wood, Glass or resin.

Now I feel like I'm getting somewhere. :D
Thanks Folks

Hey Bob, She is looking good. The center line for the mounts is the same as a v8 I believe. I'll measure mine tomorrow and let you know unless someone knows the # off the top of their head

Regards,
Bill

Thanks Bill.
I guess I should have checked before I finished the glass on the sides.
OH Well. At least I know how to take it back apart now. :p:D:rolleyes:
Thanks again.

Hey imraan47,
Thanks man. I really like it too.
I got it off ebay at a great price. It's a Teleflex CH1700 series.
Good luck

Can you just get any kinds of shifter like this one and expect it to work with any engine? or are there specific shifters that will work with an engine system like mine?

Looks good as usual bob...nice craftsmanship! I think HVAC is right, a 4.3 is really a 350 with two cylinders cut off. I have one in my sea ray if you need any other info.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hey arch,
Thanks,
I'm just trying to plan ahead a little. I'm looking for another 4.3 and while I'm rebuilding, I thought I might be able to glass in the motor mounts. AT least rough in.
imraan47,
The Teleflex CH1700 series is supposed to be pretty universal, It will work with most OEM cables, the 33 type and the 3300 type(sae 10-32).

tinkeringwackyone,
Thanks for the comments.
Have a great night all.

Hey Kenny and Frisco.
Thanks,
I'm now looking at something other then glass and wood. Trying to decide what to cover the bilge area with. I really like this kind of problem.
Thanks again
Bob
