Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hey Bob,
Hope all is well, sorry its taken me so long to get this info to you, life has been crazy here too. Center line to center line on the engine the mounts are 22 1/2" . On my boat the inside dimension is 18" spacing between them or 9" off the c/l of the keel whichever way you want to look at it

EDIT - You have to make sure you keep at least the 9" spacing from the center of the keel or the oil filter etc won't clear the stringer. I just realized that the hard way  Im 3/8 off on the one side, now I have to figure out how to get it apart without destroying everything Grrrrr.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello all,
Gone for a couple days and got way behind on my reading. It may take me a couple weeks to catch up.
SKIBUM1M,
I still plan to launch this year but it may be late and sitting on a bucket. :D
sprintst,
Sneaking in a hour hear and there is not easy. My boat is 250 miles away during the week.
Oh well, I'll get there.

HVAC Cruiser,
Thanks for the info. You may want to install one of those remote systems. Make life a lot easier.
OK now for my actual progress. I didn't get everything done on my list, well, actually I only got one thing done. Check out the pic's.
IMG00307.jpg

I at least got the deck cut out and dry fitted.
Then I decided that I had better make sure the gas tank still fit.
IMG00308.jpg

It did.
Then I ran out of time and had to start cleaning up to head back to TN.
I decided to also raise the outside stringer slightly to get drainage to wards to the bilge area. I am going to just add some glass to the top to get the desired slope. At least it won't take long.and the I will coat the deck in resin and start glassing it in.
Hey I at least had a deck for a couple hours. It did take longer the I had planned.
Hope You all had a good weekend.
Bob

Amazing work. Fits like a glove.

Yeah. I forgot about the commute. You're still kicking butt even with the distances involved.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Thanks folks,
I really appreciate all of you looking in on my thread.
archbuilder
I 'm really looking forward to completing the deck. I starting to feel like I'm getting somewhere now.
SKIBUM1M,
I knew when I started this that it would be a long time completing but I will get her done.
Thanks, Triton II

HSF, if you send me some rope trim, my luck would be to trip on it or hang myself. Just Kidding.
I'm hoping that my next trip home I will get the deck glassed on the bottom, the foam poured and the deck installed and at least one layer of glass over the entire thing.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Looking good, Bob! Getting that deck in is quite a milestone. No worries on the progress. Mine still hasn't been touched for months. Any progress is good.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Bob,

Some input on your bilge paint. I discovered that Tractor Supply carries a line of Velspar enamels in colors for tractors. It is very reasonably priced and they also carry the hardner. I decided to try the off-white with hardner and rolled it on using a 4" foam roller. This paint dried hard and it will be easy to spot anything in the bilge that does not belong there.

See the pic.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello folks,
Well, I wasn't supposed to be home this weekend but I decided to come home anyways. It didn't do a lot of good because it rained like he## today.
I did get a few things done.
I built up the outer stringers slightly higher to give me drainage towards the bilge area and I had been thinking about painting the area where I am going to pour the foam, just for some added insurance. I went ahead and painted it this Morning and finished shortly before it started raining. The rest of the day was spent indoors. I did get a couple sections of the deck sealed with resin and cut the opening for the ski locker. I also almost have the motor mount assemble completed. I'll put the final touches on it tomorrow.
Next weekends list.
Paint the ski locker.
Install the motor mount.
Pour foam
Seal the front part of deck.
install the deck.
For me this is a huge list and I'm not sure how far I will get on it but this is my target.
Sorry no pic's yet. I'll post them when I get back in TN tomorrow night.

Hey Mick,
Robs boat is already ready for water testing. We need to tweak the Carburetor from the rebuild we did but it's almost ready now.
mrlassi1,
Thanks for the tip on the paint, I'll check it out. I already have a quart of bilge kote but I plan to paint the ski locker and under the gas tank too.
Might be good for those area's too.
One more item checked off too,
I got my new gages in Friday and they look sweet too. They are similar to arch's and Mick's but I went with the Teleflex style and the RPM gage has an hour meter in it too.
Have a great day all.
Bob
