Bob, nice to hear you got some time on the boat. I havent seen the hourmeter in the tach but sounds nice. I thought of adding an hourmeter but dont have the space that solves that problem.

Yup... Always digging the pics :) Keep picking away at the list.

It's a relief knowing I'll be dropping mine off for the engine/leg then I can get a break from the boat for a week. Seems it adds to my already too busy schedule.

I'll give it a week then I'll be wanting to work on it again I'm sure :)

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello folks,
OK, I get the pic's out. Kinda boring.
The first is where I painted the sides of the stringers and between them. I know some will ask why I painted it. Its just a cheap extra layer to protect the stringers if water some how gets between them.
IMG00311.jpg

I didn't paint the top of the stringers to make sure I get a good bond when I put the deck down.
The next pic is just the ski locker cut out and alum trim.
IMG00310.jpg

It actually fit first time.
Then the motor mount. poor pic, so I took another from the side.
IMG00312.jpg

I'll be right back with aome more pic's.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Back again,
It wouldn't let me post the last couple pic's.
Here is the side view of the mount.
IMG00313.jpg

I don't think this thing is going anywhere.
Last Pic is of my new gages. The RPM gage has a hour meter in it at the bottom.
IMG00314.jpg

The back lighting is red, The black number change to red when the lights are on.
Well That's all the pic's I got, But it pretty well covers most of my weekend.
Thanks again guys.

Hey Bob,

Hope you had a good weekend, the boat is looking great.
Looking at the pic for your motor mount I realized you need the distance forward from the transom, it being a single mount. The #'s I gave you were for side by side as you see in the Sea Gem. I still have the mount in one peice for mine with the marks of where the mount was. I will measure her today to get you that distance if you still need it

Looking good, Bob! I wish i had painted my inner hull as well. I just didn't think about it until I had the deck mounted. You hull looks identical so far. It's really quite neat to see how similar most boats are until the deck is in. Your glassing job looks top notch.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello all,
Thanks for all the great feedback. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
HVAC Cruiser,
I have the dimensions for the front mount. I am looking for a V6 to put in my boat, I currently have a 3.0L and will more then likely launch with it. Before I complete the build, I want to go ahead and install the mounts for the V6, then I'll be set when I find it.
I need to find another piece of engineered lumber to build the other mounts. Then I can go in either direction, V6 or 3.0L.:D
Take care all
Thanks again.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello folks,
Well I may not be at home but I have been busy. I have ordered most of the parts to rebuild my outdrive. Not the internal portion, just the the things like Transom seal kit, new trim sender units, shift cable and sterndrive water pump.
Man, the money sure rolls out quick.
It was a lot more fun spending Robs money for parts. :D
I don't want to waste time waiting on parts to come in so I'm trying to keep the parts coming to stay ahead of my work. :p
I still have a few parts to order but I may need to wait for a little extra cash. They will be another couple hundred.
I keep telling myself that I'm doing this because I enjoy it. :D
Well I hope everyone is staying dry and having a good week.
Hey HVAC, thanks for the mount info too. I got enough wood to finish my V6 mounts and with the info you gave me and this web site (http://wwwarchive.mercurymarine.com/installation_drawings2 ) I found I have every thing I need to install them. This site has installation drawings for all Merc. engines.
Take Care.
Bob
