what type of boat have you never owned that you've always wanted .... for me it would be a pontoon boat .... over the years we have owned a wide range of boats, most everything from a 10' Porta Bote to a 32' cruiser but I've never owned a pontoon

Hey Jim, go for it. I've got you beat, like you I have owned small, big, sail, air, inboard, outboard now this past week I just bought a Pontoon and loving it. Talk about room and being a party boat, this is it. My hold 12 people, doubt I will ever carry that many ???

in our port I may be the captain for our one boat fleet but right now and I fear for a long time to come, the Admiral I answer too  would veto any such acquisition ..

Tournament inboard boat or a 30ft+ cruiser. I would be disappointed with a pontoon.

Re: What Type of Boat

My wife keeps tugging at my sleeve for a pontoon boat and I keep looking at deck boats. ;)

I might end up with a pontoon but I will never give up my all purpose 16' boat which I think is easy to handle alone.

The deck boat is the closest I'll ever get to anything resembling a pontoon. I just can't give up the benefits of a v-hull in exchange for the deck layout.

Within financial reach at some point - Dual console (or maybe walk around) 24'-ish with dual out boards
Totally fictional - a 30' Riva

Offshore fishing boat, course with the price of gas now, I am not so sure, have also looked at toons as something to just throw in the river and leave it, take a quick short ride in the afternoon when I get home from work.

35+ foot cabin cruiser.

Saw something the other day about a new Searay mid cabin (think 37') they are testing with twin outboards. From the photos you would never know it has OB power. That might be our next boat, or one like it when another builder copies the idea.

Lol, touche. I don't think they make a truck or trailer big enough for me to tow it though.

You will need to buy your own Marina.

That SeaRay has a fine layout also. I would not mind having one of them either. Powered by 2 300 hp Merc Verados

Well you could allways get one of the 107 mph 900 hp tritoons.

My problem with the 'toons isn't the speed (although they tend to suck at that, too). It's the wave handling and the turning. It's like turning a motorcycle/sailboat without allowing it to lean. I sure wouldn't want to make a hard turn at over 35mph in a pontoon, you might flip the thing! They also don't respond terribly well to trim in my experience, so you end up burying the bow in the waves/wakes.

Myths and propaganda! If you get a tritoon with strakes, you'd be amazed at how it handles turning, trimming, and rough water handling!

I will admit I have never been aboard a tritoon, so I can't comment as to their abilities. I'm still skeptical as to how the handle turns any better.

Re: What Type of Boat

I think maybe an air boat, something about being able to cut across a pasture to the next water hole sounds intriguing to me. Never had a pontoon either but I don't think I really want one though, I see these things cruising the inner coastal canal and they really get beat up from the wakes. We do have an okay size lake near the house here in MS. that a pontoon does quite well in, but I'm just not into them. Although the new song by LBT makes you stop and think LOL :) Mmmmmmmm Motor Boatin'!!!!!!!!!!

Re: What Type of Boat

I'd like any Gar Wood, a Chris Craft Racing Runabout, a Century Thunderbolt..... Come to think of it I could probably list a thousand boats I'd like.

All I really want is more time to spend on the boats I have.
