I also hit my seams with 5200 on the outside as a little added insurance. Laid it out with tape first and an acetone soaked nitrile gloved finger to smooth it out.

If you don't have acetone or don't want to kill the paint I've found gas works well on 5200 also.

Great thanks for the info and pics guys! Ill probably just seal the entire edge outside of the boat. Have to get everything done by next weekend. Really gotta get going so not much time to find out if everything is sealed up. Rather just seal it all and be done with it. Even after I get her out on the water Ill still be working on her.

Not too stressed out about it yet. Just motivates me more to get it done. BUT, I will admit I kind of need it. Been getting a little burned out lately but Ive been working on it every day even after work it's definitely caught up with me a bit!

Ya thats the main reason Im pushing so hard to get it done. His father passed unexpectedly about 2 years ago, grandma just passed after a stroke last year, and now his grandpa has cancer throughout his body. Been rough for everyone Ive known them for about 17 years. His grandpa loves to fish and has never been out catching 3-4 man limits of walleye so Im doing everything I can to get it done asap. Have our fishing trip set up for next weekend. Hes already on chemo so dont have much time left before hes too weak to get out.

Thanks =)

I was debating putting the whole splashwell on just b/c I want to be sure I have everything done in time. And I dont think its too hard to take off. But besides the windows, the SW is the most hated thing on this boat. So without much thought I grabbed the jigsaw and started cutting. I feel the back of the boat has so much wasted space and so much potential I couldnt bear to put that god awful hideous beast of a SW back in. So far, so good but only had one piece of scrap aluminum left so only got one side done.

Hey that'll work fine for your SW, in fact that's exactly how the SW is factory designed and put together in my 16' SN.

The problem now is my transom. I dont want a back deck but do want it to be level with the gunnels. The transom is curved and I wasnt thinking of that when I cut the transom. Kinda late to redo all of that so the back wont line up at all now :-(

Do you mean the splashwell won't form to a convex transom?

If so these might help ...?

Thanks again JB!

Worked on the splashwell again last night. Just a bit on a VERY rough draft. Wanted to get an idea of what it would look like to try to get some ideas on what I want to do with that area exactly and what materials I would like to use. Going to buy a bit of supplies this weekend and make one big push to get everything buttoned up as much as I can. I WILL be going to Saginaw next Friday (as long as the weather is decent, if not Im going to Detroit) so she will have to be operational by then.

Ordered the rest of the stuff I need yesterday. Got my seat mounts and pedestals, needed another set of gauges, and will be getting a backup bilge to install today after work. Along with the rest of the materials I need to finish my SW area. Have to work more OT tomorrow.. so going to be a long next few days. :sleeping:
