    Stringer Cleat Board Question

My cleat boards run the full length of the stringers in the original factory design.

    Stringer Cleat Board Question

I will check the price of mahogany but if I run full length cleats, I will need about 40 feet. Likely I will go with plywood or a less expensive solid wood.

    Stringer Cleat Board Question

My new aft stringers are set in place with peanut butter under the full length of each. Corner joints are tabbed in so ready to start tabbing and glassing the stringers. So, here is the issue. My old stringers have cleat boards running the full length of the stringer for attaching the floor...

Water Pump Question - Alpha 1 w/Closed Cooling

I think I need to finish assembly my engine and see how it would fit and what bracket holes are available since I have the low mounted alternator on the port side. I do have the used stock style sea water pump but I don't have brackets for it.

Water Pump Question - Alpha 1 w/Closed Cooling

I talked with Shawn this morning and he said the bracket they have for the crank mount pump only fits with the hose coming out on the port side. No problem with running the hoses out the starboard side by rotating the pump but they don't have a bracket for that. He did say they are able to fit...

    Floatation Foam in Closed Space

Thanks for all the technical info. That helps a lot. Thinking of just drilling a holes in the inside of the box stringer to minimize the number of holes from the top. The fill holes are how the water got into the boat originally, but then, the sealing job from the factory was pretty sloppy work.

    Floatation Foam in Closed Space

The factory originally left all the stringers pretty much floating on the inside. They relied upon the foam to just flow under all the stringers and fill all the spaces. That allowed the floor to bow up under the pressure from the foam. I am bedding all of the new ones. In the motor mount...

    '93 Pursuit 2150 - Fuel tank questions

Actually, the correct term for my tank is a belly tank, a flat about 4 inches wide on the bottom of the V. I used Speedy Tanks (Atlantic Coastal Welding in New Jersey) for my new tank. They have tank profiles on their website. I went with a new KUS incremental sending unit for mine.

    '93 Pursuit 2150 - Fuel tank questions

I haven't installed my new tank yet but had a similar problem. It appears you had a plastic pipe running from the forward bilge underneath the tank to the aft bilge for drainage of any water to your bilge pump. This was the same as mine. It appears the pipe was used since the tank was foamed...

Water Pump Question - Alpha 1 w/Closed Cooling

So, I just found this drawing that shows the seawater pickup and drive water hoses connected together with a T fitting. From what has been said, it is best to put a valve in the seawater pickup line before the "T" or the "Y" which ever is used to flush or run the engine on the trailer and to...

Water Pump Question - Alpha 1 w/Closed Cooling

The oil cooler and PS cooler both go on the Port Side so I don't see how with those two and the alternator that the crank pump can route on that side. So, I need to find out of the crank pump can be rotated to the side the Mercruiser sea water pump normally mounts.

Water Pump Question - Alpha 1 w/Closed Cooling

I have been looking at the crank mount pump and saw something about possible interference of the hoses with the alternator which on mine is mounted low on the port side with the power steering pump mounted above it on the port side. It looks like the hose comes out of it towards the alternator...

Filling holes with Polyester Structural Putty

It's the ease of use in that all you do is take a small amount and add MEPK. Patching a few screw holes means you have to make a very small amount of PB which is hard to do and you have to deal with cabosil dust...

    Stringer and Bulkhead Questions

Only my inner stringers are attached to the hull with bedding. The outside ones just float on top of foam floatation with no bedding to the hull. I see I forgot to attach the pic so here it is. It's strange in that there is a line of bedding material for the outside stringers that looks like...

Water Pump Question - Alpha 1 w/Closed Cooling

Anybody have a drawing of how to hook up the sea water pump and the Alpha pump? Well, I found a standard DJ brand sea water pump for $150 but it doesn't appear that brackets are available. Looks like I have to change direction and go with the crank mount approach. Scott, does that pump you...

Water Pump Question - Alpha 1 w/Closed Cooling

Kenny, what's the purpose of the ball valve? Scott, I built the equivalent of a Mercruiser from a Truck block so it has never had raw water.

Water Pump Question - Alpha 1 w/Closed Cooling

No matter what pump I use, is it possible to put a Y in the intake line and plumb the outdrive pump outlet into the intake of the sea water pump? I understand that you have to remove the Alpha pump if you use the lower unit intake for a sea water pump, is that correct? Also, I hate to drill a...

    fiberglassing in new floor

I removed my stringers back enough to get the transom in and after the new transom was in I removed the stringers around the engine bay. I put in new engine bay stringers and bulkhead. So, today I pulled off the floor up the port side. Although my stringers seemed fine, rot continued forward...

    Stringer and Bulkhead Questions

I got my engine bay stringers bedded and started tabbing them but ran out of resin. So, while waiting for more, I decided to start on the forward stringers. The outboard stringer on the port side fell out while I was removing the foam floatation because it was rotted and the out board...
