    Fogging Engine (f90 efi)

And just to certain, there is no water to drain out of anywhere, right? Freezing temps won't do any harm?

    Fogging Engine (f90 efi)

Hi, I'm just wondering if people fog their 4 stroke outboard for winter. I've been seeing videos where people run gas mixed with 2 stroke oil thru the motor until it smokes. Is this the standard pracrice?

    Immediate delamination

Thats strange...is it possible the cloth itself got contaminated? maybe layed somewhere where oil or something got on it?

    Yamaha corroded ground wire.

Its the wire that came with the motor, i think its the original equipment, its likely stainless steel as its not rusty. Its also not tinned that i can see. I was thinking about the charging system as well as this would be similar to turning off the battery switch while running wouldn't it? Must...

    Yamaha corroded ground wire.

The ground wire broke off from the battery and left the connector still attached. Am I right to assume this would cause the motor to die while idling? Its a 2016 Yamaha F90 EFI.

    Retirement in another Country

Like was said earlier, the grass is always greener on the other size. You want to get out of Tennesse while I always thought somewhere in the upper southern states sounded good. I would like to live somewhere where winter is about equal to my fall.

    Yamaha corroded ground wire.

It didn't come out of the connector. it corroded away exactly at the point where the connector and wire meet. There was still some wire left in the connector.

    Yamaha corroded ground wire.

The new one I put on was copper. Haning a cable go bad in the middle somewhere would be hard to track down.

    Retirement in another Country

British Columbia on Canada's west coast is a fair bit warmer then the rest of the country. The scenery, boating and fishing are phenominal apparently. The health care ain't all that bad. If you have a serious condidtion you will get the treatment you need in a timely fashion, for elective type...

    Yamaha corroded ground wire.

The motor is new to me this year, I did clean and lube the connection but maybe the previous owner never did this. I missed the corrosion because it was under a black rubber wrap at the join between the end of the wire and the ring terminal connector. Lession learned.

    Yamaha corroded ground wire.

Yesterday i had to be towed back to the slipway (oh the shame!). The motor just lost all power while idling. I checked wires and some fuses, no luck. Anyway when i got home and proceeded to see what was the problem the ground wire came clear of the battery with the connecter still on the...

    Wood cost

Yeah, i saw an article this week here in Canada that said that lumber prices are now nearly back to pre covid prices. Lumber retailers were complaining that they had bought lumber at high prices and now had to sell at low prices and take a lose.

Voids found after new transom install

Like i said, I'm no expert, but if you're confident that the voids you have marked are the extent of the problem, then filling them thru drilled holes will probably work. I would think this will work, time will tell. With a good layer of glass on the inside, the sides embeded good and most of...

    Hull Extention

I'm sure people have done it but I'm just wondering how hard is it to extend the hull of a fiberglass boat about 3 or 4 feet? Would the cut/join always be a weak area? Would it fool up the hydrodynamics of the boat? I know people will say just sell and buy bigger but I have a lot of work put...

Voids found after new transom install

Another thought.....would a stud finder for walls in a house be any good finding voids in a transom?

Voids found after new transom install

Hate to be a downer, but have you considered that there might be smaller voids and empty channels all thru the contact area between the plywood and outer skin? You might be only detecting the big ones. Maybe for saftey sake and peace of mind you should just take out the plywood and do over...
