Nautolex Vinyl on Deck - Aluminum Hull

That might have been their summer/vacation hours. Google shows 5 days a week now. The literally had any colour nautolex and other similar brands. And sunbrella products galore. Pleated vinyls, accessories, hardware and adhesives. I’m heading back for some pleated materials and maybe more...

Nautolex Vinyl on Deck - Aluminum Hull

JT’s is where I went. They have it all and then some. Plan your trip if you go, IIRC. They are only open 3 days a week. Did you check with the power sports guys in Ayr? They may bring it in. CAS Marine I think it is

Can you see the rivet head bumps after laying the flooring? Looks great

Nautolex Vinyl on Deck - Aluminum Hull

I totally get it but keep in mind that your aluminum curlies will be on top side of the board. Only fine crumbs will fall through from the final breakthrough of the drill.

Nautolex Vinyl on Deck - Aluminum Hull

Shavings will fall into rib ends and onto your foam insulation everywhere else if you use styrofoam sm floatation. I can’t see those fine shavings clogging anything up, even if they vibrate or wash down to the bilge and into the limber hole area

Ouch. I don’t know if I’d say you got played. The PO may not have known that what he did caused so many issues. Whomever resomodded it appeared to have tried to do an ultimate build. If you looked for a donor hull, you still have a trailer and two great motors..You could repair that hull, though...

Nautolex Vinyl on Deck - Aluminum Hull

Like you, I’m torn on the one piece vs. Multiple floor panels. I’m likely going with the latter as that’s how I started. (I did my transom and the rearmost floor (directly under the splashwell at the sliding doors) as a means to have some use that season. I could do a one piece from the sliding...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Progress has been slow this week. Was a 55 hour work week. I didn’t touch it until today. One side scratches and pitting buttered with Marine tex. I’m going to try and get out one or two nights this week and do the other side. Ordered new decals for my motor hood. Got a stainless steering...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Transom is done. I can’t recall what page it is in this thread but there’s a few photos. Transom was probably the easiest thing to do on this boat so far.

Hey guys, starting to think through my dash layout and getting my list together on the last electrical materials I need. I have already grabbed fuse blocks, switch panels, kill switches, horn button etc but I need wire & cables connectors and such. Have any of you got any good pics in your...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

I’ve been thinking about the subject of corrosion due to trapped moisture, and the next processes I’m getting into is the floatation foam. The original waterlogged foam was laid on top of the ribs and not the skin of the hull IIRC. Because I want to add a rod locker in the floor, I want to add...

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

I hope I’m not trying to sour your plans. Just trying to help. Product might be just fine. (I hear “coat” and automatically think thick coating

@classiccat I have to ask about something you mentioned on another thread; “I've never worked with coal tar epoxy however I'm in the camp of coating aluminum with anything below the waterline (interior or exterior) is a recipe for corrosion in the long term. if you don't have perfect adhesion...

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

Something @classiccat (I think) said about coatings on aluminum concerns me and my repaint plans. This thread is something you might want to see if you are thinking about using coat-it. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/1974-starcraft-21%E2%80%99-holiday.752987/#post-5731831 Just in case it...

Wow that corrosion is really unfortunate. Is it on the bottom side too, or only the transom? If the latter only, maybe you could get a fabrication shop to form up a new skin? If everywhere, is the corrosion pitting deep and extensive, or still shallow?

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Yes, I’m in a bit of a sticky spot. In order to use the g flex, I’m supposed to (according to the video) strip the rivet head and immediate area to bare aluminum with a stainless wire wheel. So I have 2 processes requiring bare metal application. 3 if the marine tex needs the same bare...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Thanks @renns and @classiccat , I’ll have to sand it again before priming. The 2 marine supply places I deal with aren’t open again until Thursday and I don’t have the primer :( So I’m the meantime, I’ll start the Marine Tex repairs (pitting, deep scratches) and the G Flex treatment. Then I’ll...
