1967 Johnson 6hp won’t idle or stay running

I would not run that motor any more until the water pump impeller is replaced. Following that, let it run in a tank with water about half way up the leg. The top of the head should remain warm, not hot. You can use a 50:1 gas to oil ratio on that motor (2.56 oz 2-cycle oil for each gallon of...

    Carb for 1977 9.9

Soak metal top and bottom of carb in lacquer thinner (or solvent of your choice). Leave linkages in place, but remove non-mental parts. Clean each orifice with soft metal wire, and spray with carb cleaner. Leave jets in place and soak with carb halves.

    1975 25hp Evinrude Overheating

Pull off the cylinder head and clean out the water passages around the cylinders -- thin knife or similar. Common with salt water motors, but blockages always possible. easy to flush down from the t.stat housing. Clean up whatever is at the water pump grommet, and (likely) replace the...

    1975 25hp Evinrude Overheating

Try flushing down from the t.stat. Remove the l.u. and flush up the intake tube. Check the impeller (key dislodged?), check water pipe grommet.

Port bank of engine = dirty; Starboard bank of engine = clean (internally).

NAPA, possibly. Used in some farm equipment so that can be a clue to location. Solid or wound wire core. Get an open air spark tester (not the inline type). Measure ignition strength (look for half inch or more on each lead.)

1999 Evinrude Ficht E175FPLEEC dies at high speed

You're not likely to see problems with solder joints. My experience is with '80s diesel Mercedes boards, notably the climate control system, as I recall. You need to run the iron over the joints on the assumption that there are hairline cracks.

Want to put tilt trim on 1994 48 SPL

An obvious point, but wouldn't it be easier/cheaper to find a replacement for the tilt assist. I haven't used it on the water, but played with it on a 65(?) hp that I was looking at. With that device, it seemed to me that setting the manual trim would be pretty easy.

    Johnson 20hp 1973 carburetor

I believe the nozzle is an integral part of the carb top half -- would have to find a donor carb with an intact top half. Did you remove that nozzle from the carb -- and what is that reaming device pictured? Is that in a vent? The nozzle drops into the the elongated female tube built into the...

Want to put tilt trim on 1994 48 SPL

Your motor has the tilt assist feature, doesn't it? Just my opinion, but seems like a lot to go through. Might consider aftermarket t.&t. units as a little simpler route to go.

    1961 18hp johnson overheating

If it's really running as hot as you say, remove the lower unit, and flush upwards through the copper water tube. Water should gush down. If continued issues, remove the head cover and clean out the water passages around the cylinders. You can also flush downward with the t.stat removed.

Water coming out of mid section 1978 75hp

Water seems to be coming down the inner exhaust housing, which would be correct. Maybe the foot needs to be tightened up to the outer exhaust housing.

How to find proper carb rebuild kit

Carb numbers are tough -- often a tin tag that attaches under one of the bowl screws. Go by the motor model number, yr. and hp.: http://ww2.iboats.com/Carburetor/dm/cart_id.036411823--session_id.474587545--view_id.1533256
