1980 85 hp evinrude starting problems

My bet is your choke (or "enrichening device") isn't working. That would be where I would start....

    Moveable deck chairs on pontoon

Seems to me it would be MUCH simpler to avoid dumb ideas like that rather than dealing with a water hose and who would be in command.....

Bent Transom on Lowe FS175, HELP!

Get the boat where you have good access to the back of it and stand on the area of the motor right above the prop while watching the transom. Maybe bob up and down a little. If you see a lot of/excessive flexing, there is little question your transom need some attention. If you have DIY...

    Moveable deck chairs on pontoon

Can we call you to come pick/clean all that up when one of them bursts after a little too much time in the sun? No thank you....

    No acceleration in reverse

That would be easy enough to check for sure. I like checking the easy stuff first. Good place to start.

    No acceleration in reverse

Consider that in reverse, the prop is sucking a bunch of air coming from the exhaust. That makes the engines nowhere near as effective in reverse as they are in forward gear. Effect amplified by bulky heavy boats, like a pontoon boat for instance. Easiest cure might be a 4 bladed prop.

    Moveable deck chairs on pontoon

The best, from a comfort and stability standpoint, are the plastic adirondack chairs. Tough to tip even in rough water because of their low center of gravity, and they stack nicely. A LOT of stacking/foldng chairs are just too tippy to trust with kids and seniors who may not be expecting to get...

    Wheelchair Accessible Resto-mod

There's a huge amount of volume within a pontoon. If you are monitoring a setup like that, going for 3psi shouldn't be much of a gamble to my way of thinking. KISS!

    Wheelchair Accessible Resto-mod

There's a trick involving old fuel line I just thought of that you might be able to use. On those sharp alum. cutouts, where you are running your lines and wiring through them, you can use old fuel line sliced lengthwise to make grommets. FREE grommets that fit perfectly! Just don't cut...

    Wheelchair Accessible Resto-mod

I get you can't have TOO sharp a radius, so if you have to, go under/skip the first cross member and then use the rest from there back?

    Wheelchair Accessible Resto-mod

Most 'toons are built with M brackets between the logs and the cross members, giving you a great, easy to access area to run your cable. Clearly, this is not a conventional construction. Is there a reason you don't want to run your cables through the holes already cut in the cross members? I'm...

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

Before spending that kind of money I would want to see promised/expected gains on paper with a money back guarantee. Do as you like, but I'm really doubtful that can be pulled off. And when/if talking to these people, make sure they know you are working with a pontoon boat, not some light...

    Residual Heat during this "lockdown"

I feel completely spoiled saying this, but I have 2 hydrostatic compact 4x4 tractors w/loaders and 60" belly mowers. John Deere 755 is here in Fl (that I bought not running really cheap), and the Mi tractor is a newer Kubota B2610 I bought new quite a while ago. These are medium/small tractors...

    Residual Heat during this "lockdown"

Re: heated cabs. We sold a place in Gaylord Mi. (Northern Lower) to get the house in Fl. that we have now. The Gaylord area gets an average of 150" of snow a season (snowmobile and skiing paradise), so as a homeowner, you needed to either know somebody with serious snow removal equipment, or you...

    Residual Heat during this "lockdown"

On the topic of block heaters being left turned on, used to have a small airplane. Found out the hard way why you don't leave a block heater turned on, even if it wasn't expensive to run. Rust. The crankshaft, where it emerges from the block, has an oil seal. That oil seal needs a smooth...

    Hooked hull repair?

Whew! Hooked for sure. Best of luck there. You're sure they were fixing these under warranty? That they weren't built like that on purpose?

    Hooked hull repair?

Some manf's put a hook into it on purpose, from a safety perspective. The fact your motor doesn'y turn up like you expect it to could be a matter of having the right prop on it. Then again, you may be a victim of a poorly set up trailer.... If that's the case, I'm not sure there is a...

    Snow Birds: Beware!

As a snowbird with quite a few years experience, I can share that although the thermostat (t-stat) has an important function, turning off your water (city supplied or pump) is an even more important function. This won't avoid burst pipes in the case of heat (or power) loss, but it WILL avoid...
