    Empty trailor weight

Just locate a marina that will let you tie up for a few hours and get the trailer weighed. Should be no big deal. In my experience, most marinas are pretty good about working with you on stuff like that.

Yamaha f115 tlry losing prime during idle

Well, see if you can imagine this. What if the pumps are sucking air due to an issue somewhere between the fuel pick up and the pump? If you replace the pumps, will that fix the fact the fuel line leading to them has a leak? Not where I come from. My point was, rather than throwing parts and...

    Leaking case halves/Crankcase

First, I apply case sealant more like a paint than a bead. A very thin, pretty much transparent coat of paint Second, if the case half bolts were installed and torqued properly, and you have a gap like that on a seam, I'm not sure I would bother taking it apart. Time spent looking for another...

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

I would say not very likely. A prop turning up about 6k would give you better pulling power, and you might see an additional 1 or 2 mph.

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

The 2 stroke 60's and 90's both weigh the same, so I think you'll see a significant difference, especially if you take the time to get the right prop for the job. The Honda 90 (4 stroke) on our 24' boat does a nice job with young kids. Can't toss them around like a ski boat could, but the young...

    Tracker Party Crusier

Requirements are a little higher, but access to get to those "requirements" is considered near impossible on may installations. The little 4 banger I/O isn't as bad as some - like any of the V-6 or V-8 installs.... You are so GLAD you went O/B here, especially if you went 4 stroke....

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

Are we talking about staying 2 stroke, or going to 4 stroke?

    Should I purchase a 60HP 1969 Johnson hydro-electric shift outboard motor?

I've owned them as well. AND I've worked on several. Both GOOD reasons I'll never own or even agree to work on another....

Compression test low on BF100 honda mid 80s

I would add here that a 4 stroke CAN carbon up if it's never allowed to warm fully. I see this all the time on Honda's run with no t-stats on pontoon boats that rarely run on anything much over an idle. They're normally fine idling for hours on end, are highly sought after for that reason. But...

    Aluminum small hull design

I would add that the hull size and shape may determine what needs to be done to maintain stiffness. A canoe for instance isn't going to need much longitudinal help. Just transverse will work there. A Jon boat though, is going to need both longitudinal and transverse help to keep the bottom...

    2010 Honda BF90D Issues

GOOD JOB! Congratulations on discovering your issue! It's stuff like this that reinforces my hate/distrust of dealership work. 2 things. First, the pump's female electrical connectors look terrible in the picture. I would make sure those were spotless prior to reassembly. 2nd, the rubber...

    Run Carb Dry or Not.-

You know what doesn't turn (for a couple of years)? Good synthetic 2 stroke oil mixed in a 50:1 ratio and run in your last tank of fuel for the season. Just something to consider.... I use it in 4 stoke motors that aren't going to be used for a while, pretty much everything I work on, plus my...

    Should I purchase a 60HP 1969 Johnson hydro-electric shift outboard motor?

Regarding the question to purchase an electric shift, even one that works, WHY? Unless there's something unusual going on with a particular engine (an emotional attachment for instance), there's too many easy to service/maintain mechanical shifting motors around for me to even consider an electric.

    Question of HP

And a possible tough lesson for one that didn't take the time to look into it further....

    Question of HP

Let's say the plate did say 75, would you mounted a 350-400 lb. 75hp 4 stroke because the plate said you could? Point being, those old plates need to be taken with a grain of salt (or common sense).

Older Honda BF100 fuel hose connector interchangeable with OMC?

Easier to just use a Yamaha fitting on the hose, no?

Older Honda BF100 fuel hose connector interchangeable with OMC?

The OMC won't work, but a Yamaha will.

Compression test low on BF100 honda mid 80s

I think you're going to see a big increase in your compression test with the throttle held open. If that holds true, service the motor, get it running right, and go run the hell out of it.

    Question of HP

It's not that easy. Part of the problem is weight. Darn few of those older 50's had power trim and tilt. You'll be hard pressed to find a 4 stoke that doesn't have T&T. So there's a weight issue with the increased weight of the 4 stroke. Honda makes a 60 hp, but they're expensive. Pretty sure...
