Anyone own a big hardtop Chief?

That's what you get with "express" cruisers, more or less.

    Starcraft boat market?

I think that's absolutely a trend, but "family friendly" is also a bit of a moving target.

    Starcraft boat market?

I come from what's long been dual-console aluminum boat land (northern MN). The glitter boats have definitely made inroads there as well, best I can tell (without real changes in the underlying fisheries). We're also seeing more high-end tiller boats, but the most common workhorses are still...

    Starcraft boat market?

I'd imagine that the 22fters are hot as well, but might not stay on the market long...Probably Mariners in addition to Supersports. Nothing stopping anyone from rockin' a sparkly, pumpin' vinyl-finished islander. I'm kind of interested in what overall trends in fishing are driving the...

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

I don't run an Islander, but I do have a 22ft V5 SS on the same hull. Adding a trolling motor with forward batteries as well as trim-tabs in back made an enormous change in wave-breaking ability. I haven't yet been out in big seas since making the upgrades, but it's been night and day cutting...

Islander/Chieftain project ponderings. Building the ultimate big water Starcraft?

Yeah I keep my eyes on Marinettes as well as the 25-26ft starcraft (not seriously at either). The Starcraft I'm not quite sure are big enough inside to matter. The Marinette size (and corresponding trailering restrictions) means you really want to have it slipped... Is an in-between even...

    1972 Starcraft Nova

Is that some white sealant between the ribs and the hull? Maybe the braces were added as a repair. The port ones are bigger because the hull had cracked already.

    Nice big Chief.

    1972 Starcraft Nova

I don't think they made them for very long. Best I can tell they were launched in 1972 and made through 1973.

Nah the Novas were earlier and smooth-sided.

    22' Islander rebuild

Hah! The 22s can surprise with their size for sure. I do think a good captain should have no problem handling/launching/loading solo though.

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

You're probably not that far off without needing to float an 1100 pound powerplant on top of your load capacity...however the worst thing in the world is packing full of foam...but not enough.

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

It'll take more than that to adequately float a 220V. I did the math, as best I could, for what the statutory requirement would be for my 22ft V5 SS (at its listed capacity/weight) and it came to like 12-13 in of foam (calculating conservatively as I didn't weigh the boat, and assumed that...

Dont know how to sell starcraft 1974

Glassers can deteriorate to the point where they're nigh-unsaveable, and don't have the flexibility and ease to refit and reconfigure. Glassers are more of a "this boat is what it is" and you need to love that boat for it to be worth saving. For that reason Aluminum tends to depreciate to a...

Dont know how to sell starcraft 1974

Honestly if he wants to control what happens to the boat, just keep it. It sounds like it's still special to him. Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are going to be the best options, and price based on what's available there.

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

What about those of us who somehow shoehorned 27 ft of boat+trailer into a 24ft deep garage and are still digging out of the mess that created?

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

I'm sure that a lot of us alternate between "gonna need a bigger boat" and "gonna need a bigger garage". Every boat is simultaneously too small and too big. That's why you need a fleet.
