I love the way yours completely lifts / opens to gain full access to the engine. You make a very good point in the possible need to open to or beyond the 90 degrees as well. I'm thinking that I may just wait until I have it built (this weekend hopefully) and see how heavy it is.

After looking at it more yesterday evening, I may be leaning to make the entire "hood" a one-piece design. If I do this, then I can just put the struts on either side by the gunnels which should be plenty far away from the engine heat. I just have to build it and see how heavy it is. I, also...

Good morning everyone!! Had a productive Sunday working on the boat. Didn't do any glass work; however, I did some fabrication of items that will be installed soon and will require glass coverage. For example, I built the gunnel rod holder brackets that I'm going to install down each side of...

Had a pretty productive weekend with the boat. Got the fuel tank installed and the cover in place. Still need to tab the seam when I proceed with that area of the sole. Got the battery "shelf" installed across the area under my consoles. This will give me the place for my trolling motor...

Had a pretty successful weekend. Took y'alls advice and grouped smaller glassing jobs together. It actually worked out well; so thanks for the suggestion. Didn't take any pictures this weekend because, well, there wasn't a lot of interesting stuff to look at. I did a lot of odds and ends...

Another quick question for the fiberglass gurus: Is there any way to keep my rollers & brushes from kicking off between batches of resin? I know that I could clean them with acetone, but I've found that that is more trouble than just buying lots of the little covers. I was thinking...

Another beautiful day. Gio the front casting deck "glued" in and also did the fillet around the edge to tie it to the hull. Will come back with tabbing to follow. Did a few odds and ends as well (mostly cleanup) before calling it a day. Gotta work on the lawn mower because the grass is...

Lovin' the awesome weather this weekend. Spent the day, yesterday working in the bow. Got the two air chambers (??) Closed in on either side of the anchor locker. Then put a layer of gelcoat in both the anchor locker and the storage locker. I will do another coat through the hatch once...

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

Looking good. You are doing a bang-up job with the upholstery. I'm glad I don't have to do any for mine.

Great ideas guys!! I like the idea of using removable / knock out spacers. To expand on this idea, I may sit the deck in place and mark the position well before actually doing the spacers & PB. This way I can make sure it is all aligned well and will drop straight down onto the PB. I can...

I did that with the main panels in the sole, too. The challenge is going to be the casting deck in the front of the boat (shown in my thread pics). Because of its position in the bow (only about 10 inches below the cap and extending a bit under the consoles with only about 3 inches...

Also, please excuse my mess in the boat. With limited workspace, it gets cluttered very quickly.

I am so glad the weather has warmed back up. It made it up to 67F today. I decided, since I have to do my work inside the boat / tent still, that I am going to work from bow to stern. Got the bulkhead and floor glassed in for the storage under the casting deck. And, also got the hatch...

Nasty cold weather ruined (mostly) the plan for a holiday marathon. Couldn't get it warm enough to do any fiberglass work; but I did get to work on some of the wood cutting. It looks like it will start warming back up starting this weekend.

Not looking like i will get much done over the holiday. Did finish bedding in the floor panels and the casting deck bulkhead. I also got the casting deck panel cut to shape. Looks lime with this winter storm, i won't get to do much today or tomorrow. Certainly too cold for fiberglass work...

I didn't have to remove the cap on mine. I want to put the engine back in so that I can easily get to everything before I rebuild all the structure in the area around there.

Got the rest of my foam poured yesterday evening, before the cold weather hits this weekend. Now working on fileting and tabbing the deck in and closing up all of the pour holes. Hope I can keep it warm enough over the next 5 days (Mardi Gras Holiday) to get a lot done. No pics to show at...

Two coats of gelcoat. I am gonna use the heatgun to warm things next time, too.

I bought a cheap drill angle jug from Harbor freight for drilling the holes and drilled from the outside through the original hull penetrations. I am gonna order an alignment jog for when I put in the engine.

Very. I had a drill jig to make sure they were perpendicular to the tansom and I used a countersink bit to help make sure to get started in the center of the old holes. But it was still plenty scary to drill through after all of the work on the transom.
