Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

i trend toward buying cheap tools , we have a brand ozito here in Australia they make just about every type of power tool, if i know the tool i need to buy is going to be one of those tools that just gets chucked around and only used for specific jobs then i figure why buy the better quality...

i recon it may just be recycled oil being hyped. that could possibly the reason it does not meet standards not that recycled oil is a bad thing , i have used it in many car engines and they were happy to run on it.

Whats the deal with "High Milage" conventional and synthetic motor oils???/

i believe it has more detergents in it to dissolve some of the sludge some high mileage engines can get. seemed appropriate to me when i was informed of this . probably just a gimmick, it does in general not cost any extra so why not go with the flow :).

    Shift control replacement

you would be surprised how easy it happens accidently , iv personally done it many times in the past with outboards. the original owner of my Maxum rigged the trim such as you are considering ,instead of fixing a tiny bit of corrosion on a trim limiting switch, it was a PIA to say the least...

    Aren't my ignition coils defective?

if you can get a bore scope in there to get a look it will save some cash on gaskets and so forth. you can then assess if the motor is in a useable condition or it needs a strip down and rebore. im guessing water is getting in those cylinders with lower compression , the longer you leave it the...

    Aren't my ignition coils defective?

defiantly worth the effort and the cost of gaskets to open them up and take a look., you could open a can of worms you don't want see ,but if you get compression sorted before further damage is done it could save full rebuilds later on. cylinder 2 port is a bit concerning , possibly scoring...

some of the guys on a jet ski forum used their old fuel from their skis to make leaf bombs, the leaves should be falling for you guys soon . rake them up to a pile , tip the old fuel on , let it sit for a bit to soak in , shoot it with a cross bow arrow with a burning tip, the neighbors will...

    Aren't my ignition coils defective?

when diagnosing """"any"" issue on a 2 stroke , compression "must "" be checked """""" first thing """"", if numbers are low as posted ""or"" uneven as posted ,then there is no need to keep ripping your hair out to chase down a issue, its quite simple , a 2 smoke will never run properly if #1...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

it indirectly broke the rocker arm after the head of the valves had so much build up of carbon it could no longer close all the way , valve got stuck in the guide , rocker snapped as it did not have the strength to push it open . no need for people to get their panties in a knot about a...

i used to mix old fuel into the fuel on my pressure washer , let me tell you guys , its not a great idea. halfway through an important job the motor just stopped. after diagnosing to be a busted rocker arm , i decided to strip the motor , it was so gummed up in the top end that the rocker arm...
