    Best out board motor lock

Just some old ratty, funky looking fabric to cover the motor….take that shiny new outboard motor “ please steal me” look away….

    Best out board motor lock

Remove nice shiny motor cowling and lock it in your house, wrap the remaining motor in some ratty, mangy looking burlap and secure with a bungee cord…..looks like motor is broken, being worked on, not really worth stealing….most thieves would maybe move on to a nicer, better running outboard to...

    Motor vs. draft

My boat is a 1870 Express with a 268 lb. Yamaha 2 stroke on transom…it sits 5 inches in the water at the transom. The width of your boat is a big factor…The weight of the motor( in your case about 100 lbs. more than mine) is another factor…What is your boat width at the transom?

Sealant for rivets inside aluminum jon boat

On my old riveted aluminum canoe I always just wire brushed the rivet and area around it and added a small blob of 3M yellow weatherstrip adhesive….stays on very well, doesn’t crack….it’s a 1983 canoe and never had a leak so far…

    Lower unit

Don’t sound too bad….you can fill the hole with JB Weld and/or fill the hole with epoxy ( like 5200) and a screw….if you thought to drill and tap the hole for a screw/bolt the metal shavings from the drill and tap could be hard to completely remove from lower unit gears and bearings…..probably...

So he reduced his oil/ gas ratio by 75%?….why did he do that?…..hopefully his motor is not seized but if it will run at all then maybe go back to the old/ normal mix and hope for the best…

    UFP Trailer Buddy retaining ring

With zerk either threaded or pressed into the free turning piston it may be a challenge to remove and replace the zerk….I’d just replace the entire Bearing Buddy….Why are you trying to replace the zerk? ….

Proper air pressure for PWC trailer

Like I mentioned, if tire says 90psi on sidewall, then inflate at about 80psi so when tire heats up at highway it won’t overinflate causing tire wear, hard ride….

Proper air pressure for PWC trailer

If tire says 60 psi at max load then run at about 50psi cold so when the tires heat up at highway speeds you’ll be about 55 psi….

    Pitting/corrosion on jon boat bottom

I use bleach and a scrub brush on the bottom of my 40 year old aluminum canoe….cleans and removes everything real well…rinse with fresh water….I’ve never painted or coated any parts of the hull but I guess a coating of some kind wouldn’t hurt…seen folks use pick-up truck bed liner…

yamaha 115 2 stroke fuel pump

Not a bad idea to just install a new pump every 5 years or so…keep the old one that still works as a spare…pump is only about $50…. Cheap preventive maintenance…

    Fouled Crankcase.-

A work boat/motor must get the worst possible treatment…Low RPM’s, no real TLC/preventive maintenance, never reaching optimum operating temperature, on/off, etc. etc….It would probably help to run the motor wide open/max RPM’s once a day or so. I like the Lucas 100% synthetic outboard motor oil...

    Restoring salt pitted stainless steel

My brother-in - law in Florida has a 33 ft. World-cat with anodized aluminum t-top, pitted from saltwater….his plan is to remove it, sand off corrosion and powder coat the entire top in a white color to match the boat….sounds like a lot of work but it should look good when complete….maybe powder...

    Submersible trailer lights

A good idea is to unplug trailer lights before dunking trailer with hot bulbs in cold water…also a coating of grease on bulb bases can help keep water out….but that said, I believe that trailer lights are destined to failure due to the nature of their usage…especially salt water trailers…

    The newest outboard from Mercury

I’ll bet there’s folks in Miami and Key West with 3 or 4 of these on their transom right now!….Must be nice!

    The newest outboard from Mercury

Motor has twin, counter rotating props…so that should take care of torque…Regarding price, I think most folks that buy motors at $77K don’t worry much about cost. I do see this motor as revolutionary and wish I had the means to consider having one….
