Suzuki df140 making a strange noise

I don’t know how a water pump could make that much noise. Some motors have a drive shaft bushing about mid-way down the foot that requires some grease/lubrication, but that usually makes a chirping/sqealing sound. Yours sounds like gears…is the prop correct and on tight?

Suzuki df140 making a strange noise

That’s quite a racket!….has your mechanic heard it for his thoughts? I guess the shims in the lower unit are dialed in correctly?…maybe your mechanic needs to double-check his assembly/shims…..sounds sorta like some gear noise to me…

    Gamefisher 3hp gear lube?

Yes, lay the motor on the work bench with the prop up….may be a bit easier with prop removed from prop shaft….when you refill the unit don’t overfill it or it will overflow when you put the gears/ carrier back in….the silicone gasket compound works great to seal lower unit…especially since those...

    Gamefisher 3hp gear lube?

I’ve been running a Tanaka 3.0 for decades….remove the 2 hex bolts right behind the prop….remove prop shaft/carrier/gears in one easy piece….inspect/ drain 80-90 marine gear lube…clean it all out with spray cleaner/ lubricant like WD-40….refill cavity with fresh 80-90 gear lube, re- install prop...

Found a snake skin in the boat. Now what?

It shouldn’t be too hard to give the boat a good cleaning…maybe bleach, pine oil, or something snakes don’t like the smell of. Moth balls scattered in all the nooks and crannies of the boat would be a good idea and will impress your wife….use lots of them!….so whenever you get near the boat the...

Found a snake skin in the boat. Now what?

I’ve found snake skins in the attic, in my basement, in my garage/ shed….it’s no big deal…snakes just do it and move on….no need to share the snake skin find with your wife, who may become paranoid over it….

Cracked lower unit! 2003 Yamaha 150TXRB

Well, it looks like a bad crack, but if there’s no leaking, problems, noises, etc., then maybe just run it. Maybe sand/ file it smooth and apply a “patch” of JB Weld over the entire cracked area…about 1/8 inch thick….then file/sand smooth several coats of paint….and go run it. Or, you can...
