    SEI vs. Quicksilver Transom Assembly

How bad is the one you have? Is it damaged from hitting something? What part of the country are you in?

    Transmission Spewing Water

It looks like you found the problem. You will have to remove the propeller and hopefully there is a slight off set of the rudder so the shaft can be pulled.

    Transmission Spewing Water

If the transmission cooler has an internal leak , your transmission has water in it. The water is blowing out of the front seal.

    Transmission Spewing Water

It may be a core plug in the rear of the engine block. To me it appears to be coming out of the flywheel housing.

    Old ford 302 no spark

A test light and a multi meter are 2 of the best tools for diagnosing electrical problems with your boat along with some various length jumper wires also a remote starter button kit.

Volvo Penta 5.7 GSi PLKD timing mark out of scale

Just to be sure check the voltage that powers the coil while cranking and running.

Volvo Penta 5.7 GSi PLKD timing mark out of scale

One thing I remember about Volvo ignition switches is that the key has to be rotated about 180* which is their version of the “by pass” circuit that puts 12 volts to the ignition. If the boat this engine was in has that style of ignition switch may be the reason it takes more time for the...

    Old ford 302 no spark

That is the wrong type. It would be correct for the trim pump however. 65057 A1 MM#. 18-5802 Sierra # is the grounded base type you need. You can get a replacement resistor wire at a NAPA store. Measure the length of the wire. Also NAPA has the marine type solenoid you need I have purchased...

    Old ford 302 no spark

Take a look at the wire diagram that AD posted. You will see that the solenoid for a Ford engine uses a grounded base solenoid. All other solenoids used are usually non grounded base and use one of the small terminals usually marked “I” which can be confusing. If you used a non grounded base...

3.0 litre Mercruiser sterndrive oil issue

The kind I have had the best luck with is the tapered square style. Sometimes I think that the reverse tapered style expands the broken fitting and tightens it more.

    Old ford 302 no spark

Since you had 12volts going straight to the points and condenser there is a good chance that the spring that closes the points has lost it’s tension by over heating and the condenser is cooked. At this point you should convert to a Petronics electronic conversion.

3.0 litre Mercruiser sterndrive oil issue

Go to a contractor style plumbing warehouse or if you have a plumber friend. They will have the correct extractor. Probably the smaller sender was for a light on the instrument panel or a alarm like Scott06 described that lets you know the ignition is on and the engine is either not running or...

    Old ford 302 no spark

You had me scratching my head for awhile. Yes you do have a Mercruiser harness. There is either a circuit breaker or a fuse where the #10 red wire is connected to the solenoid on the trim pump.

Volvo Penta 5.7 GSi PLKD timing mark out of scale

I am not familiar with your wiring harness but try checking if you have 12 volts at the +or bat side of your coil while in cranking mode. I realize this has nothing to do with the timing but might help in starting. Is the fuel pressure present while cranking also?

    Old ford 302 no spark

How many wires are connected to your alternator? Mercruiser engines at one time had 1 wire alternators like AD posted. I think you have a OMC engine that used Prestolite alternators which have a remote mounted regulator. Post a picture of your alternator.

    high vs low profile

Since you already have a electric drive what is wrong with the current one? The bottom gear housings are identical, it is the exhaust housing that can be swapped over if that is the problem.

    high vs low profile

77 was the last year for the electric model and 78 was the hydro assist model. Even with the hydro assist the V8 models started jumping out of gear right away. OMC found out the hard way on that set up. While it worked for out boards they finally figured out that the V8 s smooth idling was...

    high vs low profile

Actually it will bolt on however you will have to convert the shift to electric and the original shift cable hole needs to be plugged and a hole drilled in the opposite side of the intermediate housing, and of course the extra length will surely prevent the boat from planing off plus the drive...

New Engine Replacement - Engine Died and Hydro locked after 5 hrs!?

The third bellows might be the one where the shift cable enters the hose that guides the cable to the drive.

If the oil filter was rusted badly enough that may be what made the noise you heard when it blew out.
