Drill 2 holes 180* apart with a 3/16” bit between the shaft and outer diameter being careful not to damage the threads in the gear housing. Insert a #1 Phillips screwdriver in each hole then with a large screwdriver between the inserted ones you should be able to unscrew the bushing. This...

When it stops have you checked if there is a good spark from the coil while holding the coil wire close to the engine? Try running it from a separate gas can to check out there are restrictions in the fuel supply.

Need to know about the 1980 Volvo AQ145A Engine

I have to go with Scott on this one also as far as the engine. The 280 drive will outlast 2 engines. If the owner lowers the price and you still like the boat and the hull is solid you could always replace the engine with a 3.0 Chevy marine engine with the corresponding adapter to the Volvo drive.

    Mercruiser 140 Carb/Fuel?

When the carburetor is apart look closely at the power valve spring that it is not rusted. That can also cause a lean out problem If water ever found it’s way in the fuel system. With the distributor cap off try to see if there is any slack on the rotor shaft where you can open the points even...

87 bayliner ciera 2450 will not shift out of forward, any suggestions??

Remove the cover on the rear of the drive and check if the cable is moving the linkage. Bayliner used a generic control box to keep the cost down. They wear out. If the cable is the problem they are easy to replace. Try to post a picture of the linkage on the back of the drive.

Aq271c Engine wont rev past 2000rpm

There is one other thing to check. With the #1 @ tdc make sure that the mark on the balancer lines up with the ”0” mark on the flag with the degree marks. It is pretty rare but the outer ring of the balancers have been known to slip.

    470 front pully removal

If you can cut some of the deck out it would really help with what you have to do. You can always repair that. I have had to pull engines to do that in the past. It would help if you can run a 3/8“-16 tap through the 3 holes in the balancer to clear the threads. Depending on the thickness...

'85 OMC Stringer won't raise on it's own

Try loosening the 4 bolts under the rubber covers about 1/2 turn. Sometimes the trunnions ears do not have any grease and are binding. There are grease fittings under the covers. Check that all electrical connections at the solenoids are not corroded. Blue wires for up and green wires down. If...

    Remove 190hp omc tilt motor

Actually they are 3/8” hex. A short combination wrench either 6 or 12 point was my tool of choice. Sometimes a 3/8” universal socket 1/4” drive with a extension and driver handle after the bolts are loose. And of course, patience.
