    Emergency Kill Switch Wiring

While that does work, it should not be done on a 4 cycle motor. The kill switch should disconnect 12V to the coil (+ side), not ground the - side As Scott mentioned you want to "break" the 12V connection, not "make" a ground connection. Find the purple wire coming from the key switch and...

Urgent request: dealing with a fuel tank spillage on my '83/4 Islander

Opinion: Water will knock down the fumes but the water will not dissipate the fuel. I would get a fan (bigger the better) and blow down into the area. This will cause evaporation to accelerate. Let it run all night. Shut down in morning and give it a couple hours then give it the smell test.

    454 distributer/timing problems

Being a 1984 it would be a TB4 unless its been changed That said, I would look at the distributor cap, rotor, wires and then pick up in that order.

mercruiser 898, won't run (or will barely run), at wit's end

If there is good spark and fuel, the next thing would do a compression test Don't like using Either but in this case would be a good test. Don't use much, and if you can start cranking before giving a quick short bust

Volvo Penta 5.7 GSi dies when jumping b+b/w wires for timing?

There is a way to rev in neutral, all motors can do it. Just need to figure out how Thinking to usual method is not there (push button in at bottom center of handle) Grab the bottom of the throttle handle (the hole handle) and pull out, The handle might pull out and if it does, then move...

Unable to say for sure but that would be correct for a Merc with a MEFI3 Try increasing RPM to 1000 before connecting

Alternator not putting out 14 volts.

Maybe a 470 guy will come, but ALT's work mostly the same way. Its either a one wire which has all the control circuitry inside and no excite wires, or the excite wires are connected externally. Take the ALT to a ALT/starter shop and let them test it and or rebuild. Is it a one wire or more?

1998 Merc 3.0l Front Engine mounting.

No At least every other year (Most due every year) the drive "should" be removed and alignment checked. Anything done to the motor should always be checked
