    When I work on salty dogs and have this problem a used adapter plate is needed. I driill thru plate and bolt about 1" below powerhead, soak it good with ATF/acetone mix, twist drilled in hafl bolts out if possible. the heat with red wrench and pop it off with big hammer and pry bars

    The WSM kits you can go in .010 sizes..you can get .010 /.020/.030/.040 OS pistons. 020 is usually the norm as it will clean up most cylinders except deep grooved ones.

    You can swap already shimmed gears into a different housing but have to reshim with new gears. When the back face of pinion is machined it could be several thousands different from original gears..Where are you located??

    Bad rectifier, bad grounding on stator mounting bosses, loose battery cables/selector switches ,heat as seen several in boat docks with this repeat failure due to heat build up under black cowling .
