Need three things to run compression, fuel and spark. When you say motor still not firing what do you mean??? wont start? hts and wont start? just cranks?
It only cleans piston tops and valves on 4 stroke as rings and walls are lubed by crankcase oil. Only way rings can carbon up is if it has wear and a oil burner
You do not go by looks but by measurement's...mike the cylinder to see if worn past their limits or ports.
Why??? If cylinder is worn (which 90% are) do you want to hone and make looser? Measure and repair correctly
TDC #1 with dial indicator, use a piece of coat hanger or stiff wire bolted near old bracket was and bend to get TDC mark. Check linkage to make sure bottom 2 carbs are complete shut and that its reaching temp to come out of Quikstart
A polished /waxed hull will slow you down and a polished prop has less bite. Us guys who go fast use a satin finish and the polished ones are usually thinned and more than 3 blades. I have had props with over $500 of work done to them ..was it worth it? Yes as these prop started out stock OEM...
Trigger coils are paired...1 and 3 are same trigger coil and 2 and 4 is separate trigger coil. Movement of trigger can cause the wiring to loose connection as it rots up in the protective sleeve and is unseen.
Yes step by step......Look in the rear and see if throttle cable is still there and just rolled up an was disconnected when hot foot was added. PIA to remove it just to add a foot..
