I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Hi guys! We got a little more work done yesterday but were interrupted and sidetracked with a different project before completing the task at hand. But it's all good! ;) BTW - I'm healing well and no pain. I have pix but I don't want to gross anybody out! The boy cleaning up lead...

Success! The old lead head melted right off, leaving a reusable hook. Three out of four went smoothly. :joyous: And then this happened.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

My wife was home again all day yesterday, so no KF work then. This morning the boy and I went out there with the goal of stripping all the green paint from the topsides. And we made it... the hard way. About an hour ago. :blue: The stripper started working on the topside paint before I made...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

My wife was home all day today and will be again tomorrow (medical stuff) and my ol' buddy was busy too, so I couldn't get much done today. But this evening the boy and I went out and did a little stripping prep work for about an hour. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get some paint removal...

    Monmouth's 1979 Starcraft Kingfisher Rebuild

The bench in my KF was 3 feet long and used a 3/4" ply top. Works fine even for my massive bulk. I'll be using 3/4" ply (leftover from the transom work) as the base for the twin boxes I now have.

    Monmouth's 1979 Starcraft Kingfisher Rebuild

If you're talking about this front bench, 3/4" should be plenty.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Today I finally defeated that tough paint on the cowl hood. It's off there! :D As a final attempt to clean it after stripping, we used the sand blaster with the walnut media. Which did nothing! That media is pretty weak. BTW - I accidentally discovered that leaving the stripper on that tough...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

We're in the garage now. I've been sanding the cowl hood with 220 grit/orbital sander. There are a few really deep scratches that I want to remove. Probably nobody but me will ever care though. I did get them down quite a bit. Anyway, I'm wondering if I can use "high-build" primer to fill them?

Yeah, winter ended early here. Should be in the low 70s during the day and down to the 40s at night. But it ain't happenin'. Gonna do a major boat work push today and tomorrow since the boy will be home from school for President's Day. The weather is great for working on boats. :)

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Nope, but I had one try to eat me one time!! :croc:  It was 25Oct2014 as a matter of fact. We'd been shoreline fishing at that same lake as yesterday. It was about 45 minutes after sunset and I caught a big bowfin, maybe 6 pounds or so. But, at the time and in the gloom of late dusk, I...
