Just brought home another Starcraft SS 16ft

Yes, it's to add water ballast when the boat is swamped to prevent capsizing. Theoretically providing upright and level flotation. If you do the math, you'll find that there would be several hundred pounds of water down low with flotation along the sides below deck and along the sides of the...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I was supposed to be painting the boat this weekend, wasn't I? I didn't really get anything done on the KF over the last 2 days. Sooo sidetracked. But it was all (other) boat and good stuff. :p  Well, the only thing that actually got done was to have a buddy remove that screw with...

I thought it was a tinny but now I'm not sure

And this one's for the Starmada... a 1973 Starcraft Chieftain I/O with original trailer. :) The guy has a whole bunch of boats sitting on that acreage. Fun stuff!

I thought it was a tinny but now I'm not sure

The tinny owner also showed me this BIG tinny! A 50 foot all aluminum racing catamaran. It reached speeds of 132MPH. He recently had it silica blasted in preparation for paint and restoration.

I thought it was a tinny but now I'm not sure

So I tracked down the owner of this old tinny and met up with him today. I was trying to get myself into trouble with this little boat but he didn't really want to sell and I really didn't want to buy. So we didn't and everybody's happy! Turns out that the owner is a big time boat guy...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Had to resupply this afternoon. Got some more stripper which makes the count up to 4 gallons thus far, plus a few more scrapers. Went out this evening and worked on that cowl hood again. It sure is tough! But I'll eventually get it all done.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I was busy for much of this morning but did get out there for an hour or so. I'll hit it again later today. (I know, I know, I'm not supposed to work alone.) We're pretty much in the summer work pattern here at home. Work in the morning until the heat comes up, then break. Go...

    ETRO for issues?

Is there an Estimated Time for Return to Operations for the issues we've been having? I really miss being able to multi-quote when replying to posts. And didn't we used to have the ability to search individual forums as well as individual threads? Or did I mix something up somewhere? Maybe...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

While the KF was draining outside, I stripped the Merc cowl some more. I still want to hit it with some mineral spirits and get the itsy bitsy stuff off, but it's looking much better. Is that thing cad plated? It has that gold/bronze hue.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

DRY!!! After a 7 hour leak test, NO leaks! :whoo: Nothing at the stern and nothing on the floor. Woohoo! :D And after awhile we shoved it back inside. Rain in the forecast again. Nothing else to see here... movin' along! :)

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

While waiting for the leak test, I did a little more stripping. Stripper glopped on. After a quick pass with a plastic scraper. That decal leftover was a surprise. After a few swipes with the brass brush, all gone! I'll do a final cleanup after I do the other side.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Found a Kingfisher logo I like and modded it up a bit. It would be used in conjunction with a Starcraft logo of course. I obviously wouldn't use it this big. This is just to show what it looks like.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

This evening the boy and I went out and got the stern area stripped, cleaned up, the groove cut and so on. Then we tilted the boat. Something I'd not done last week but which I did do when I initially sealed the boat a few years ago. After the boat was tilted, I applied the Gluvit. It...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Sigh. I shouldn't be left alone with time on my hands. I only confuse myself.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

My ol' buddy and his son took me out to breakfast at our favorite eatery :hungry: this morning and while there, I discussed my box cutting situation. Ol' Charlie said that I could use his air-powered cutoff tool. Cool! :tea: So a little later he dropped by and we did the markup on the...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Well guys, I did figure out a solution for the logo situation. I'll address it later as there are a bunch of different options available in the solution set and I need to choose the one I want to use. But I'll be "correcting" the "reversed" logo when I get the KF done. And y'all are gonna love...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

This afternoon the boy and I pushed the KF back into the garage. Thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow. Winter's over! :smow: Dangit. :blue: I finished stripping the other end of the storage box. Am now thinking about the best way to cut it in half. Sawzall may not be precise enough. I...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

My ol' buddy came over for a visit this morning, so we sat in the garage and chatted while I worked. That was nice, since I am NOT allowed to be left unsupervised! The first thing we did was to push the KF out the back door of the garage so that it could be drained. No problemo. I...
