    Nissan or Mercury?

If it us runnung well, why stop using/ replace it ? It could easily run for many years without issue. Find and keep a spare water pump on hand, oil and spark plugs are readily availiable. I have a 1985 kicker motor, never needed anything but a spark plug and an impellor blade in all those...

    Dust Cap Woes

I have had a few over the years pop off, but akways something wrong with the hub or the cap. All I can add is...the caps should be really tight getting in...really tight! When I put mine in, it takes a big hard rubber mallet and a number of harsh, hard swings to get the cap to seat !! When they...

    Broken low speed needle

Find a very small dia left hand drill bit, small enough to fit the large dia end of the broken pin. Once you get the left hand drill to bite in, it will unscrew the broken pin. Gonna be a tiny delicate job but doable....remember left drills go backwards..same direction as unscrewing...

    Another winterization question

Years back a neighbor used the light bulb method for his boat, had it in a small unheated barn. He put a light in the window that he and the neighbor could both see. If they looked and no light, they knew the power was out and they would fire up a small power generator to keep the bulbs going...

    Another winterization question

Draining is the safest move bar none !!! With that said...to get a longer season I used to put two 75 or 100 watt light bulbs in those big funnel looking aluminum housings inside the dog house. Temp never dropped below 60 degrees even when outside temp was 25... Experimented to see if one bulb...

    Care to guess tire size?

With the conditions you describe, you have a 95% chance the boat is junk, rotted transom and stringers. Your getting it for free because that is much cheaper than the owner junking it himself. Sure you want that trouble just for a free trailer ??

1986 Chris Craft gas gauge or sender issue?

Might hust ve a lousy gage and sender. The way boats operate, gas gages can read off. My own does similiar things. It stays full, until the tank us almost half empty then suddenly shows 1/2- 3/4 full. When up on plane it reads different than going slow due to angle of the hull. Over time I...

    Care to guess tire size?

Even a bigger point...what is the lug spacing, a spare won't help if the wheel doesn't fit....

Doing lack of maintenance repair on Ariens 1128 snowblower.

Yep...gotta pay close attention to wind direction !! Tried the cab also but being tall and a big sail, the wind often blew the snoblower over on its side. What I did find that works very well, bought a snomobile helmet at a garage sale. Works great, just remember to wrap something around your...

Doing lack of maintenance repair on Ariens 1128 snowblower.

I have had Ariens sno throwers and zero turn mowers for years. Great products !! And yes my 24" deluxe blower can blow snow out to 40'...easy to control though. My son bought one and his wife was watching out of the second story window of their home....needless to say he couldn't resist...

    Weather analysis for nearshore fishing

Many considerations to take into account...Winds from different directions will affect your body if water differently. I use western basin of Lake Erie as my place to go boating. In my area any wind from the NE will cause chop or rough seas and fishing will be poor. Winds from the west or...

SAFETY ALERT: Bow Seating Hazard (Malibu)

Storms that just pop up out of nowhere means the skipper didn' t bother checking the marine forecast before venturing out. Or the skipper that saw all the signs comming, but chose to ignore them until the last minute before deciding to come back in. Weather forecasting gives us many advance...
