    Marine Power 340 Pulley Wobble

it's there, you can see it in the second video, right side of the pump the pump will have a bit of movement due to the concentric shape of the housing. its possible the bushing on the support is worn and allowing excess movement as far as the water pump pulley/balancer movement it does not...

    IMPELLER IN OUT DRIVE

any water exiting from the propeller would be the exhaust side, i was referring to the intake side which during a backflush would be coming out the intake ports on either side of the gearcase/lower half

    IMPELLER IN OUT DRIVE

i believe post was referring to removing just the lower half of the drive mercruiser sterndrives are composed of two halves, the upper driveshaft housing and the lower gearcase/gear housing remove the entire drive assy for inspection, disconnect speedo coupler, remove trim pin, remove six nuts...

    496 Mag HO RPM issue

i'll play... first, verify the tachometers are reading correctly, can be done with an advance timing light with rpm capability attached to plug lead second, verify both throttle plates are opening evenly and fully third, agree with fun and verify exhaust system is open and allowing full exit...

    Alpha One Gen II Shifting

gen ii would most likely be equipped with a thunderbolt ignition, shift interrupt works with the wht/grn wire into the ignition module shift interrupt that wires to coil would be on a conventional (points) ignition system simple test for interrupt switch is to engage it manually with the...

    IMPELLER IN OUT DRIVE

possibly failed/broken flapper(s) blocking the exhaust. it is important to have proper flow into AND out of the cooling system but ime the "in" side of cooling is where most overheat issues arise yes, removing the drive and inspecting is a good idea, check both intake and exhaust passages for...

    IMPELLER IN OUT DRIVE

first off, there's no need to yell bravo does not have an impeller in the drive, only an engine mounted sea water pump debris can become lodged in a cooler/heat exchanger have you backflushed the drive to ensure good water flow?

    Alpha One Gen II Shifting

no polarity on the shift interrupt switch verify all adjustments are correct, silicone spray may help but if your lower cable is hanging up its probably time to replace it

    Mercruiser 5.0 TBI

i know, i read the thread title tbi with a mefi controller, if you have access to a rinda scan tool or diacom you may retrieve the active fault. mefi 2/3 does have some freeze frame capability but as i stated earlier the fault is active, should be quite easy to retrieve without using a scan...

    Mercruiser 5.0 TBI

mefi will in most cases have some freeze frame codes regardless, your engine has an active fault, i.e. the audible alarm is sounding thus indicating an active fault. a scan tool will identify this active code i'll guess at it....intake air temp sensor fault

    Mercruiser 5.0 TBI

use a scan tool to check fault codes, otherwise you can keep throwing parts at it til ya succeed

Guardian mode activation with no explanation from gauge

you can check the setting of the trim sender(s) with an ohm meter. can't remember offhand what the value is but if you have access to either the manual for the engine or the smartcraft manual the set up procedure is outlined fairly well in both. however if you are getting the trim sensor fault...

Guardian mode activation with no explanation from gauge

i doubt a trim sensor fault would cause guardian mode, it will cause a warning horn and set a fault if the boat is equipped with smartcraft and connected to the digital leads at the engine harness. guessing you have smartcraft gauges?

    Engine Dies When Hot

normally located on the plastic cover over the flame arrestor, i've often seen the number(s) missing from that location mercruiser oem engines have a metal tag with serial # stamped in it riveted to the block just above the starter (stbd side aft on a gm sterndrive) lucky for you there is a...

    Oil leaking - shift cable

remove the top cap and rear cover on the upper driveshaft housing, this allows access to the shift linkage cavity and the shift shaft seal located where the shaft enters the gear/clutch cavity above the shift linkage fwiw i've never seen a shift shaft seal fail in that location given the...

Preignition knock under a load 2000 Thunderbolt 5

check the total timing advance, should reach total between 2000-3000 rpm. not sure which engine you have but total should not be more than roughly 32 degrees for a sbc if total advance is okay you most likely have lean issue, check fuel pump pressure throughout rpm range, also may be time to...
