    2008 3.0L thermostat housing sensors

What he said…and if your thermostat housing is that bad i would inspect your manifold and elbow carefully. I assume this is a salt water boat?

    Trailer Brakes or Not

What Lou said - always hear Kodiak is the best or X brand is as good as Kodiak... I boat in fresh water and use my trailer twice a year so the tie down set up has worked great for me for 6 years. If I pulled it more than 10 miles to the launch I might be more worried about it...knock on wood...

    1990 Bayliner Capri 2050 5.0 V8 200hp

Mercruiser 5.0 with an alpha one drive is an ideal power plant for typical bowrider of that size. Parts and service are plentiful and cheap, assuming it was reasonably well maintained, with a little annual maintenance will provide many more years of service to you. I think someone did floors...

    Trailer Brakes or Not

If the trailer is a good deal buy and replace the brake system. When I bought my boat 6 years ago surge brakes on it were roached. I bought a Tie Down kit for less than $500. Yes there are better surge brake kits than tie down but you get the point.

    Shift Interrupter Switch Unhooked however...

Yeah hook it back up. Is this a new to you boat? It likely means the shift cable was worn/dragging and killing the engine when shifting, so someone disconnected it... so you probably are in need of a lower shift cable and linkage replacement.

    1987 19ft 4.3 merc prop size

do-you have a prop on it currently? And if so what prop is it and what is WOT rpm? best is a relative term depending on how you use the boat. generally for basic all around performance you will have a 19” thre blade aluminum black max type When sitting on a dealers lot, maybe a 17” if its...

2003 Ebbtide Mercruiser 3.0 engine rattle? Normal?

Ok do you have it at the spark plugs? If you have it at the center cable you must be loosing it inside the distributor cap. Maybe connection between center post and rotor is gone

    Oil pump

With cold oil yes it will peg at idle. Your drill at 1200 is turning the oil pump at same speed as 2400 engine rpm as cam timing chain is a 2:1 reduction. Hot idle will be around 15 -20 psi or so.

    Rubbing compound for heavy oxidation

After wet sanding it will be dull. Take a small area and compound it , it will be dull after cutting compound as well, shine will start to come out after polish, and really come out after finishing compound . every time i do this i do a small section start to finish to see how it comes out ...

    5.7 harness modification

I think you are missing a jumper between the purple to supply fuel pump. It should get power off the starter during cranking , and also have a parallel supply off the purple that goes through oil pressure switch once it is running. Starter wire to fuel pump doesnt go through oil pressure switch...

You can resurface the manifold to elbow selaing face either with a file or have a machine shop mill it or belt sander actually looks ok

    Need a Winter Project.

That’s too bad I wish I had bought more old iron in the 80 s when it was relatively cheap. I bought a 65 lemans coupe in 1987 that was prob like your moms … one owner 66 k miles never should have sold that car. After that all I wanted was a ‘real’ gto. I bought this convert that had...

    Need a Winter Project.

Nice to see another poncho... I'm chipping away at my 65 GTO , just got Tri Power back on it , finishing interior. Hopefully top and another repaint in the next year or two. Really just enjoying driving it as I bought it in 1990, and has taken me 30 years to get this far. Just got it road worthy...

Help a new guy out . Pcv valve

is that a Merc engine serial number or GM block casting number? Doesn't show in parts searches. Usually on the flame arrestor cover there is tune up into but also as section with Merc engine, transom, and drive serial numbers. If it is the original merc block a serial number tag will be riveted...
