    It will be a 2 stroke.----Stop and read some manuals.------Talk to somebody before you launch the boat.-----Install a new water pump impeller too.

    These PRESSURE operated pumps are very reliable.----Many are replaced needlessly because trouble shooting seems to be a big mystery.

    Those metal tanks are the best in my opinion.-----I would fix that one way or the other.----No plastic ( aka JUNK ) tanks for me.

    Those metal tanks are the best.----I would fix it.------If pick up tube is damaged can you slide a piece of hose over it to repair the damage ??

    The neutral switch has to with electric start motor.---Not spark.----So does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more ?---I say you have weak spark.---Or the high speed orifice plug inside the carburetor bowl is plugged.

    Those motors are unbelievably thirsty / exhaust is very smelly too.-----Yes they are a smooth runner but not really for every day use.

    Is there a special Lock washer in there with a locking tab that needs to be bent out of the way.

    I chamfer / break the outside edges of sealing rings.-----The sharp edge on them interference with movement as block changes temperature.

    The heads will be warped ( they all are ) , refinish them before installing.

    Drain the gear oil now.----See if there are chunks in there.

    Blown head gasket or major cylinder issues.----You have no choice.---Cylinder head must be removed for a look see.
