    1963 LoneStar El Dorado Restoration

If the bimini will protect you sufficiently from weather, I'd leave the steering where it was. My old Carver had a hard top over the helm section.

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Definitely have to get off my duff now and clean up the workshop. My two new graphite rod blanks and related parts arrived this afternoon. Want to get these built up before the boat is done.

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

The new internal parts arrived for the controls, so finished the assembly except for the cables. Not going to install those until I put it in next spring. Also picked up some new cable ends for the outboard end as the old ones were bent and one was broken.

Rehab SportCraft 222 1983 deep V hull cuddy walkaround

Snapped a pic of my workshop from the doorway after removing 2 full 27 gal totes of tools and chemicals plus enough to fill 2 large tool boxes. It's a start, but a long way to where I'll be able to work in there again. :(

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Took advantage of some 40 degree weather after work today and got most of the outdoor decor done. Supposed to get a full day of rain/sleet and snow tomorrow as the temps rapidly drop again. At least the admiral is pleased.

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Taking my time rebuilding the controls. Had one of my son-in-laws bead blast the parts so I could SE prime and respray them with engine enamel. The nobs were badly faded, so I cleaned them up and sprayed them as well. Found a few more parts I wanted to replace so got those on order today...

All tucked in for the long Winter nap with a new 12mil tarp.

Just acquired a 170 Horizon. Assembly required.

I woke up after a storm a few years ago to find a tree on my duck hunting jon boat and utility trailer. Thought I was going to have major damage to the boat. After working with the chain saw a couple hours I was shocked to find absolutely no damage due to how I had covered the boat with braces...

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Caps are secured with rivets/screws, steering cable cleaned up ready for install in the Spring. Just need to glue the tarp frame this afternoon and I'm ready to put it to bed for the long Winter. Still working on refurbishing the controls down at the store, but close to getting those done too...

Woke up to this this morning - and 4" on top of my SUV. Time to wrap things up as quickly as possible to cover up for a long Winter.

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Worked in the dark again last night and got the rest of the rivets installed in the rub rails. Started on the screws for the bow area where they go into the wood deck support, but found using phillips machine screws isn't the way to go. I'll retry with some hex washer head screws to draw it in...

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Starboard rub rail is finished. Now just waiting for my rivet order to arrive so I can get them both installed. Weather is awful outside again. Rain, high winds and cold. High temps next weekend predicted to be low to mid 30's F. Lots of temps below freezing overnight this week. We...

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Did the best I could with one really gnarly section of the starboard rub rail. This was the best I got using a portable belt sander, detail sander, palm sander and some hand sanding. Looks a little better in person, but just going to have to live with it. Not sure what happened when the PO...

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Thanks guys - wish I had more time to work on finishing it. Spent a couple nights cleaning up the port side rub rail. So many dings, gouges and scratches that I could only minimize them without destroying it. When I went to fit it, I think I found out why it was screwed on with machine screws...

1976 Evinrude 25hp ignition switch problems

I used a similar Sierra switch on my '75 Johnson. Here's the diagram I made up for it - works perfectly. Broken lines are White/Blue and White/Purple on mine

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Dark dreary crappy rainy day today, but my best friend Dan came in from Burlington to help me get it back on the trailer and adjust the bunks and rollers. Got the motor back on as well. Thought it would be fun to take some "near done" photos to compare it with how it looked when it followed me...

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

The bow cap and transom corner caps were pretty corroded, gouged and nicked up so I started working them on the 4 x 36 bench top belt sander with 80 grit to get the majority cleaned up then worked down to 240 grit with a sanding block. Not perfect by any means, but a far cry better than they...

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Installed the 4 cleats and secured the anchor light base, then got the wiring secured under the gunwales except the ignition harness. Admiral wanted a preview, so I did a temporary install of the seats. That's about as far as I can go until I get it back on the trailer and install the motor. I...
