    Backfire - intermitting performance

If you do not have time to do it properly, just go the Amazon or Ebay and get an aftermarket assembly for $200. to bet back on the water quickly. Then rebuild your existing in the off season.

    Why's the boat leaking?

In addition to all of the above, if you have any thru hull, check them and their hoses. Also check your entire cooling system including intake and exhaust rubber passages. Also make sure your transom assembly is tightened properly forming a proper seal with the hull.

    Drive shaft wear

I think I would replace that. I`ve never seen that type of wear, obviously your knuckles are rubbing together, probably in a tight turn or perhaps running the drive in the up position to much. How were the U joints?

2007 Volvo penta 4.3 gxi-j blowing hose of thermostat housing.

I`d say is pumping water but it`s blocked up somewhere and causing excess pressure on the supply line. I`d check the thermostat housing closely and make sure the Tstat is in properly. Do a test by removing the Tstat and running it briefly to see if it blows off again. If it does not, it`s the...

Volvo penta SX trim tilt doesnt work...

Use a voltmeter and see if you are getting power at the pump unit. I`m guessing its the switch on the throttle.

    Anchor locker drain

It looks like you have a layer of fiberglass mat over the hole. I would poke, saw or drill through that mat and you should be good.

    Starbrite waterproofing spray

I have also had good results with Starbright canvas spray. Half the cost of 303 and it does a good job.

    Oil type

I wouldn`t put too much stock in what the owners manual says for the oil. Oil has advanced greatly since that engine was produced and it may not necessarily give the best information.

Make sure the setting on the back of the tach is set for six cylinders.

    Exhaust Bellow

You should be good. Exhaust bellows are not a critical as drive bellows.

    Head gasket? Cracked head?

You might remove all spark plugs and do a quick compression test of all cylinders. good compression might rule out cylinder damage, indicating its in the upper portion of the engine. Did you remember to drain the intake manifold, a separate plug on the V6`s.

    Trim gauge '02 H180 GXi

Trim sender are notorious for going bad quickly. Sometimes a couple years is about all you get. A very poor design for what they cost. Either drastically reduce the cost or make them to last. Best advice, unless you have money to burn is to learn to go without. I time mine, full up to full down...

5.7 Volvo Penta Overheating at Idle

In addition, make sure you do not have more than one O ring on the Impeller pump housing. Sometimes they get one or more stacked and cause the pump to suck air. Happened to me.

DPS-A trim sensor drives me nuts

Trim sensors are notoriously unreliable. I have been through three on my boat and the current one now does not work. Why Volvo cant come up with a better design, I do not know. I have just gone to a timing routine where I mentally count down the seconds it takes to go from full up to full down...

    Serpentine Belt Issue

As a general rule, if the pully is grooved, the belt inside rests on it. if it is smooth, the outside of the belt will rest against it.

    Failed Exhaust Bellows

Exhaust water and gasses is designed to drain there when the engine is at idle. It will not pass thru the prop until running at speed in the water. You are good.

99 5.0 GI Volvo Penta siezed

You might want to contact your insurance company as it should be covered.

SX outdrive stuck or was now broke :(

Yep, your drive shaft is stuck in the coupler or gimble bearing so seized to the drive shaft and transom shield that it broke where it did. Not to beat you up but this is why drives need to be pulled annually, inspected, maintained and re-greased liberally.

    trim limit spacers

Or just remove it completely. Having a little more lift is not a bad thing.
