    Bellow replacement job

This makes me think it wasn't routed correctly. If it has issues going into the sheath, it's going to have issues when you try to move the core within the sheath as well. It should take very, very little Force to shift. Disconnect the lower shift cable and see how it shifts with the engine off

2003 Mercruiser 5.0 fuel pump challenge

Different switch... The switch that is in the throttle that won't crank the engine if it isn't in neutral. You can wiggle the throttle a bit while trying to start. The other dead man switch (what I think you're talking about) will crank but not start the engine.

    What are these?

That's the oil pressure sensor for the gauge

Alpha 1 Gen 2 Upper Seal Issue?

Not on a gen 2. Pressure test the drive when it's together.

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Well, one leak fixed, another found 🤦‍♂️ I was so pleased by finding the last leak that I got ahead of myself and cleaned/oiled teak and polished the boat before putting it back in. So, I saw water coming from the port side, relatively high up. First thought was the 6 screws from my ladder...

    New lower shift cable

Yeah, the undercut gears will stay engaged when there's a load on the prop, otherwise easy to come out of gear

    5.0 Mercruiser Problems

It needs 12v to keep it closed/off. Unplugging it will make it rich I believe. Whether it can be removed completely I'm not sure. Should be able to just swap in a standard carb though.

    New lower shift cable

Did you skip the parts about checking the system for slop? Does it shift normally using the cable?

Lower unit and or motor & lower unit swap

No, pressure test the drive, find out where the leak is Everything can be done with enough time and money. If they offered a 4.3 you might get lucky and have mounts there. I had to fab mine. You'll need a bit more width with a v6

Lower unit and or motor & lower unit swap

Yeah, but all that means it's that you have a leak somewhere. It will probably be easier to fix what's wrong than to swap parts around. The 4.3 will be a definite upgrade, but might/probably won't be plug n play in your boat.

Lower unit and or motor & lower unit swap

Some fuzz is normal, chunks of metal are not. There is no "usual" bad seal (why do you think you have a bad seal?), but prop seal is not one of the usual suspects...

    Starting issue

I did something like this with a steering cable. Worked for a bit, but failed within a season or so. For the amount of work involved, might as well replace the cable if available

Has anyone self-changed the trim sensors on a 3.0 XL Alpha One drive?

I think it's worse on a gen 1. Ted, if you had a smaller boat you could just turn around and see if you're kicking up a wake...

'09 5.0 TKS (Carb) not running

Can't think of why he'd lose spark after 5 minutes of running though, unless the temp switch closing did something. Op, do you have 12v at the coil pos when you lose spark?

'09 5.0 TKS (Carb) not running

Ok... 1. Engine cranks. So Yellow/red to slave and then to starter is good. 2. Gauges presumably work with ignition on, so purple circuit is good. 3. Nothing off of the starter lug when cranking, so that's an issue. However, I'd verify it with the P/Y disconnected at the starter. 4. When you...

    1984 Rinker

You're in the wrong forum, but by far the biggest worry in an '84 is structural. Stringers/transom. Any engine problems are comparatively easy to fix. However, 2 stroke mercs are not known for their reliability
